Is there anything about prochoice that you would like to understand better.. Or any questions that you want to ask? I'm hoping this question turns into a debate so we can really get on the ball and start being constructive.

I second this. Is anyone still confused over what pro-choice really is?

I think you know this already but it means favoring every single option there is available should a pregnancy occur.. We do not cheer when people have an abortion.. We do not cry when people carry to term.. As long as the pregnant woman does what is good for her.. Than we are happy. We are not for forced abortions and think they are just as bad as forced pregnancies..

Anything else?

We still call that prolife.. Alot of people who are prolife have exceptions.

I think it is possible to be both pro-life and pro-choice. As in, while you personally have beliefs which would prohibit an abortion under all but extreme circumstances, you can support the choice being available for women who do not feel that way -- or perhaps did, until it happened to them. This could come, for instance, because you realise that whether or not you are pro-choice, some women will feel they are in a situation where abortion is their best option, and if the choice of a safe, legal abortion isn't available, then greater harm may result.

This is the distinction between "pro-life" and "anti-choice", if you see what I mean.

No doubt poo. I am pro life with exceptions....I am pro choice about these exceptions.

1. Life of mother

any other reason is in my opinion outweighed by the fundemental right to life and should not be legal since it is against this right.

This means that I am not anti choice... Just in support of the right to life.... Hence pro life!

Allowing abortion for women who dont regard the fetus as a human being would mean I would hold pro life opinion but actually be pro choice... Not pro life.

It would contradict my belifes and that belife is life is more important than any other right!

When I was prolife.. At first I had no exception.. Than I eventually realized how unrealistic it was to expect someone to sacrifice their life for a fetus.. Then I eventually became prochoice.

i think you misunderstood my post a little bit -- I think it is possible to be pro-life, but understand that the choice to have an abortion nevertheless needs to be freely available to women, because if it is not available, they will just have illegal abortions.

I know many people who are privately pro-life and publicly pro-choice. Many of my professors are this as well as friends and family. While they would never choose an abortion for themselves, i.E. Privately, they do not support the choice of abortion to be taken away for everyone else, i.E. Publicly. In discussions with other people, they usually point out that they are personally pro-life but they do work very hard to maintain the balance between the two and are quick to point out that while they hold certain beliefs, they don't expect the rest of the world to follow their own standards. I have a lot of respect for many of them. My poly sci professor had a vasectomy just so he wouldn't put his wife in the situation to choose again after they had the number of children they wanted, 2. Talking to him, he is privately pro-life which is why he "fixed" himself so the situation would not arise but publicly he cares very much about the law as it is today and is very supportive of others decisions.

Anyone who hold pro life belifes and is pro choice about abortion are worse than pro choice people with pro death belifes, they are letting children be slaughtered and they know it.

People with pro life ideas but are publically pro choice.... Are the true pro choice people..... Most on here are pro death!

Izzy.. If you are not going to be civil, get out of this thread.. We are finally getting somewhere with this debate and not insulting.... And how on earth are we prodeath? Our kind isnt' the ones blowing up clinics that may very well have pregnant woman in them not going for an abortion.. Despite what you may believe.. Give me one example where anyone has showed to be prodeath and don't you even tell me it was me with the whole human race thing because I am not going to tell you again..

One more thing.. When you say that a fetus is a child.. What do you mean? Do you mean it will be a child or it is at the time in the childhood stage? There's a difference.. That is why I am asking.. This may help clear up some confusion.

in their opinion abortion is wrong, and they don't want to force their opinions on others especially when it won't result in saving "babies" it'll just kill women.

Where was I not civil....I only posted my opinion. I never attacked any individual... What is not civil is you taking away my freedom of speech by telling me to shut up.

You have to grant that what the other person says may offend you or your not for freedom of speech

izzy, you are a incredibly' troll. You lie, attack and spread mayhem solely for the purpose of causing trouble.

Now, you trashed your credibility all on your own.

If you suddenly has seen the light and reformed, deciding that bearing false witness is not what jesus would do, then have at it. But until then, good ridddance.
