I have just found this board in the past
few days because I am concerned about
possibly being pregnant. I am currently
taking a herbal medicine called thytropin
pmg, don't now if anyone else has taken
this. My problem is, I seem to have
hypothyroidism, but when I have thyroid
attacks, I have all the symptoms of
hyperthyoidism. It's like my body is
trying to compensate for one and over does
it. Therefore, i'm on thytropin pmg to
try and keep my thyroid balanced and
prevent these attack. I don't know how
this affects everyone, but I can often get
nervous very easily; my throat feels
enlarged where my thyroid is, but it isn't
physically enlarged; I often question
reality and worry about dying, and my
heart sometimes races. I can't have
caffiene or be around any kind of
stimulate (ie cigarette smoke) or it
causes me to have troubles. This also
means trying to stay stress free. Well,
as I mentioned, my husband and I are
possibly facing an unplanned pregnancy.
We are both christians and believe that
god will find a way for us whatever the
outcome, however, that doesn't mean I
don't worry about the adverse effects this
could have on my already stressed thyroid.
Also, I know worrying only makes my
thyroid worse, and yet I do worry about a
lot of things regarding this issue. Does
anyone know if it's ok to be taking
thytropin or anything else during
pregnancy? Also, if anyone could tell me
if they know of any side effects a
pregnancy could have on my thyroid, I
would like to know. My husband and I do
not have medical insurance right now, but
should be getting some in the next month.
We've been holding on me going to the dr
until then because until the last little
while, my thryoid has been holding it's
own and we figured we could handle waiting
unti lthe insurance kicks in. Do you
think this is something I should get
checked out asap? A lot of the women in
my family have develped hyperthyroidism
after pregnancy and it only lasts a little
while, however, lucky me, I got it when I
was still in my teens and have had it for
3 years without it going away. Just
wanted everyone's thoughts on this. I
appreciate your help!
