Q: Sudden Weight Loss After Preterm Labor???

I went into preterm labor on the 20th at exactly 24 weeks. I was given meds to stop the contractions and put on bedrest. Since that day, ive lost 6 lbs. Ive been eating regularly if not more then normal, drinking lots of fluids, but losing weight!
Is this in anyway okay?

My pre-pregnancy weight is about 120 lbs. Then I went down to 113 lbs due to morning sickness. I had went up to 114 lbs at my last appt with my ob/gyn, now im down to 108 lbs.

Im also high risk due to asthma, multiple miscarriages, multiple ovarian cysts and a severe uterus infection.

What is going on and what can be causing this?
I dont have another appointment with my ob/gyn until next week...

Thanks in advance,
alicia

Hey alicia. I have no experiences like yours, but I do know that baby will take what s/he needs. Down to the calcium from your bones and teeth. Best wishes to you and baby.

Some people go through this. I had my child at 28 weeks and he is fine I went into preterm labor at 26wks and 3 days. The medicine that hey give you will help. About the weight loss the doctor will do some more test as well as sonograms. If they feel that you have lost to much weight and you arent putting it on the will end up putting you in the hospital to do iv's and more. So eat as much as you can in small amounts dont try to force alot at one time because you will get sick. Also the baby will get all nutrients from your body anything that you have the baby will take. Good luck and keep me in touch
