What do they usually ask you at the hospital about the father? And if I do put my baby's daddy's name on the birth certificate - what are they gonna ask? Are they gonna ask his age?

Yes. They ask name, age and I think where you both were born. Trying to remember... I'm not sure what other info I think it might be different in every state. Me and my husband are seven years apart, which is kind of embarassing on paper  , but I just remember it had my name and the next line my age and the next line his name and the next line his age. Like this. It didn't have as much info as my bc does. Everything is getting so cheap!

I Think.....
Well the hospital were I am regerstered at the give you this packet of information, and one of the papers is a birth certificate form to fill out the day the baby is born. The questions are like all the mothers information, date of birth, where you were born, the address, social security #, and the same for the father. It may be different in some states though, I am not sure!!!!

If you are not married they also ask if he wants to sign the establishment of paternity papers as well... The birth certificate is just all of his info and yours

Ka, I know what you mean. My boyfriend was born in mexico, he doesnt have a ss# and hes not suppost to be here. My insurance was asking me alot of information about him, so I just told them I didnt know who the dad was. Well, hes going to be at the hostpital with me, so I cant lie then, and I cant say oh hes not a legal citizen...I dont know what to do either :(

For real, huh. Well my mom said that you can put unknown for the dad on the birtch certificate...If you dont want him involved. If you do that, you can get welfare if you needed. But if the daddys name is on there, they will go after him for collections first. Then they might see his age and ask questions. But I always watch maury and they do paternity test and things, and they said there is nothing anyone can do unless your legal guardian has a problem with his age. Do you want his name on the bc? I on the other hand want luis's name on the bc. I just dont know what actions they would take, I dont want him to be deported...Then I would have to move to mexico!

ka hun the only way he will go to jail is if your parents press charges. Well in va anyways. All states are different though. You need to talk to your local police dept and ask them..

To pinkbaby
you dont have to say anything.... All you have to do is tell them hes the father

Could you lie and just say he's from the us?

And tazzy, the only thing is, I think in california they will press charges anyway, even if you don't file anything.

" the victim is at least 13 but less than 16 years old and the actor is at least four years older than the victim." -- new jersey law.

He was 17 when he got me pregnanct though. So I know we could somehow work our way around that. Our parents are fine with it and everything. But I just don't wanna risk anything.

Ya, I guess I could...But then they will ask for his green card. But like you, I dont want to risk anything. If I knew it was gunna mess things up, I would just put unknown. Then theres a little something saying "well what if they dont even care hes not legal" and I could have had him on there, but I f'ed it all up cause I was scared. I know theres other white girls with illegal babys daddys. And I know theres illegal girls that have white guys babys, and she sure couldent lie about who the mother was haha. Ka, why dont you put unknown on the bc and they will never know his age?

They want my baby to have his last name. And they want his name on there for proof he's the father so we can sue him for child support if he decides to back out on me.

thats the part im afraid of. They could be asssholes and take it to far, or they could be like whatever. That out of state thing is a good excuse actually. I would believe it. Will he be at the hostpital? See, I could say I dont know like tazzy said, but he will be there, wouldent they ask him?
