I was first diagnosed with mono 3 years
ago. Then this past sept. I was
diagnosed again with it. I did get
better. Then several mos. Later my son
got sick and I got mono again. Well, I
got better and several mos. Later my son
got a cold and now I got it again. (mono)
my immune system test turns out to be
"depressed." and I feel horrible. My
doctors are concerned about what is going
on, but I have never heard of this.
Should I be worried about lymphoma?

Mono - Depressed Immune System Posted: 04-23-05 19:07pm
I have been wrestling this mono stuff for
quite some time now too... Not yet really
having gotten over it. From my research
and experience there is something lacking
in the food we eat. Which is protein.
The body needs lots of protein to enable
the immune system and lots to keep it
maintained. I hope this helps.
Godspeed.

Anyone know about the test
ebvea?...{ebstein barr virus early
antigen}
all I have found is that it mean chronic
or recurring mono.
Any more info would be much appreciated!
I am so tired of feeling tired!

Yeah, that's the mono test doctors give
you. Too see if you have it. Have had
any intimate relations with anyone
lately?? Kissing, etc.??

Thanks for your reply...
<first, let me stop laughing!>
ok...I think I can be serious again.
Nope...No contact of "that" kind in too
long...
The only info I found on ebvea is that it
detects "chronic" or "recurring" mono...I
never even knew I had mono...Ever?
My endocrinologist tested me for ebstein
barr and anti-ovarian antibodies to prove
to me that synthroid, {thyroid replacement
hormone} was, indeed, doing its job!
That if I still felt as if a ton of bricks
fell on my head...It had to be something
else, not my thyroid since synthroid
"fixed" it right up!
Ahhh...
I still feel the synthroid is not doing
much...
I tested positive to ebvea {ebstein barr
virus early antigen}...
I have really high igg levels to ebstein
barr...
<and> the anti-ovarin test came
back postitive, too!
So, my "positive" test results proved to
the doc she was correct...
{i still don't think she is entirely
correct}
<now, what do I do????> <she had
no answer to my question??>
i have been going around and around with
all of this for 3 years...
****do you hear me screaming??****
anyone know anything about the above
problems?
I am just at a loss...A complete loss!
When I check into mono and anti-ovarian
antibody tests...I seem to fall into a sea
of medical words which just confuses me
more...
My hypothyroid status is easier to
understand...Certainly not easier to cope
with, however!!
Thanks in advance for any information...
Jeanne
**one other thing***
anyone know why when I submit my reply,
many of the capital letters I use are left
out??...I am puzzled once again :)

Mono again Posted: 08-25-08 10:56am
I got mono as an adult 3 years ago and I'm
on my 4th battle. It started again 4 days
ago and I can't get that feeling to go
away. Does anyone have suggestions to
help me get through it again? I know
someone mentioned protein..... I don't
eat red meat very much, but I eat lots of
chicken. Is it possible my body needs red
meat?

Gotta Love that Recurring Mono Posted: 09-02-08 14:05pm
I'm supposedly on my 2nd bout of mono
since March/April. Now September. The
problem may be the way your doctor is
testing it as well. After the first time
you have mono you will always have mono
antibodies in your system so they have to
do an EBNA Eppstein Barr Nuclear Antigen
to differentiate between active infection
and past infection. Please look up the
Mononucleosis and Titers. You will
forever show mono antibodies after the
first time but the only way to show if you
have active infection later on is to do a
more specific test. I know doctors do not
always follow through with the appropriate
tests because I now pick up copies of all
of my labs due to oversights in the past.
I suggest you get your lab results and
study how they check for recurring mono.
You should also know that there are other
things that will give a positive Mono IgG
test and that is Leukemia, Lymphoma,
Systemic Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis, HIV,
and another I can't recall. It is worth
looking into if you have had it seven
times. Everything I have read states that
if you have had it that many times doctors
need to be looking into other causes or
why it is recurring that often. I don't
know what your symptoms are but if they
are largely stomach (GERD) symtpoms I
would be tested for H-Pylori as well.
