What Does "enhanced Contractility" Mean?
Posted: 01-03-05 14:09pm

My stress echo results said enhanced contractility of all left ventricular wall segments. What does this mean? I do not see my doctor until 3 weeks.

Thanks,
rubydoo.

I think you mean enhanced contractability - which just means (assuming i'm right about the word) you have a higher than average chance of getting a problem - but it does not mean that you will get it - but I would suggest that you treat your body more sensibly (food/exercise etc) - but talk to your Dr.

I think enhanced contractility means that the heart is pumping harder than normal. Maybe because of hypertension. Beta blocker drugs also can increase contractility such as toprol or metaprolol.
