Testing After 15 Weeks Posted: 01-04-05 00:01am
My doc had wrote down that I was 17 weeks
today instead of 12 so when I was leaving
the secretary was writing up a sheet for
lab work and I asked her what it was for
becuz he didnt say anything to me about
lab work and she said it lab work that
they do sometime after u r 15 weeks to
make sure everything is ok with the baby
and I told her im only 12 1/2 weeks so the
doc clarified that....But what I want to
know is what do they all do for these
tests...Im asking you who have been
through this....Like do they just take
blood or what...Just wondering so I know
what to expect

There is a triple screening test they do.
It tests for downs syndrome and something
else. But they dont do that until 16wks.
Its nothing to worry about unless you are
against that test. If you don't care if
your baby is born w/ a handicap, which some
people dont, then its ok to refuse the
test. But some take it just to know the
results. Both mine were negative for any
abnormalities.

I'm going for that ultrasound on thursday.
The one that detects if the baby has
down syndrome.

didn't your doctor ask you
whether you wanted those tests or not?
They usually do, mind did. I opted not
to get them. If something was wrong with
my baby there is nothing I can do about it
and I would love him just the same. And
it would only cause me to worry with more
stress if there was. That was my
reasoning. But no need for alarm hun,
it's standard, just surprised they are not
explaining this stuff to you. I hate
when doctors do not explain things, it's
aggravating. So your 17 weeks weeks but
thought you were
12?
no im 12w 5d and my doc accidentally wrote
down that I was 17 weeks so when I was
leaving the secratary was giving me a
paper for lab work and im like whats that
for becuz my doc didnt say anything about
lab work...And she told me it was a test
they do after 15 wks to make sure
everything is ok with baby...Then I asked
if I was supposed to go when I turned 15
weeks and she said well ur already 17
weeks and im like um no im not and my doc
clarified it so it was all taken care
of...But since I found out about it, I was
just wondering what they all do for it...
