I know exactly how you feel right now, I
am in the same position as you are. My
boyfriend was diagnosed with lupus that
affects his joints, kidney and lungs, and
he is also anemic. The one this I will
say is it seems that the more information
I try to find, the more questions I have!
From everything I have read, it seems
that living a healthy lifestyle is
critical to living well with lupus. In
fact, I have read more often than not that
living a vegetarian lifestyle is not a bad
thought, but I would have her ask her
doctor first. Does she have a good
rheumatologist. That is sooo important!
It sounds like you care alot about her,
and I would try to go to a doctor visit
with her if that is ok with her, and ask
any questions you have. A good doctor
will take the time and listen to you and
answer you completely. Also, if her
joints are hurting, you may want to ask
her doctor if taking omega-3 (fish oil)
suppliments is ok. It helps to reduce
inflammation. You may also want to visit
www.Lupus.Org, and
there may also be website for the lupus
foundation in your state. Look for local
support groups, you may learn more from
the people living with this than you do
from some doctors! I am pretty new at
this too, and I will say there are good
and bad days, but I know she could use
your love and support right now. And
also keep in mind that if she is on any
medication (primarily prednisone) that it
can effect her mood.
Hang in there!
