Why Are You Prolife/prochoice Posted: 01-07-05 10:10am
This is meant so we can fully see where
everyone stands.. I want you to state
why you are what you are and speak a
little of the side issues like fetal pain,
development, pas..Etc. And from that we
will stem a debate on certain areas of
this issue so maybe we can get somwhere.
I am prochoice because I believe that only
a woman knows what's best for her. I
don't think it's right that anything that
is leeching off her bodily resources and
making her ill has a right to stay there
if she doesnt' want it to. If you had
an alien in your body making you sick,
would you want it out? What if somebody
told you no because they cared more about
the alien? Yeah..It'd piss you off.
This is not necessarily about whether or
not it's a person or anything but whether
a person has a right to keep thier bodily
autonomy. Whether someone has the right
to evict an invader. I don't really
belive fetal pain and etc is really
relevant because she still has the supreme
say over what is going on with her body
since she will be the one to live with the
effects. As for pas.. If people
regret abortion then fine.. It wasn't
right for them but others who won't regret
it should still have that option.
As for as the "keep your legs shut"
argument.. Well if men can have all the
sex they want and not have to deal with
their organs being shoved into a cramped
little space under their rib cage then
women shouldn't have to either..I don't
care if that doesn't sound right because
it's not mens fault.. They don't have to
deal with it.. Neither should we.

I am prochoice because I believe to force
a woman to gestate against her will is a
violation of her body akin to rape.
Pregnancy is a *huge* strain on a woman's
body, and she should not have to go thru
it unless she wants to.
I do not believe the fetus feels pain in
the first trimester, when the vast
majority of abortions take place. Here in
canada, we don't do abortions much past 20
weeks, and I don't think the fetus can
feel pain at that stage either. In cases
of later abortion, if there's doubt about
the fetus feeling pain, then why not
anesthetize it and be sure it can't?

I lean towards pro-life because I do not
agree with the all pro-choice terms.
I believe that the fetus growing in my
stomach is my baby (even if that is not
the scientific terminology)
i believe abortion is ok in certain cases
(ie: incest, something terminal to mother
or child, 12,13 yr old getting preggo)
i believe that there should be a limit on
the number of abortions a woman gets.
As for women having a right to do what
they want to their own body, sure fine
---"their body" being the word, not a
future humans body.

I am 100% pro-life because I believe that
noone should be able to end a life for
their own selfish reasons. People should
speak more passionatly about how to
prevent pregnancy rather than how to end
one. It's like people are standing there
saying "well it's okay if you get
pregnant, you can always have an abortion"
and I think that is terribly wrong.
I think more people need to grow up and
realize how important life is.
I do not agree that a z/e/f can be seen as
an invader. That so called invader
wouldn't be there if it weren't for your
actions...And the alien argument is not
valid....I'd like to hear a true account
of anyone ever being invaded by an
alien.....
As far as (pas) goes...No it may not be
called that medically but their are people
who are begining to reconize there is
something emotionally going on after an
abortion and they are beginning to study
it further. I have rarely read or talked
to someone who had a positive experience
with abortion. Most of them describe that
they "feel terrible that they took a human
life".
The science of abortion is not what
determines most views of abortion. It's
people's personal experience and opinion.
I'd love to know how many people really
see pregnancy as enslavement.....Seriously
how many people do you know walked into an
abortion clinic because they felt enslaved
by a fetus?
We are not the ones who should decide who
lives or dies. We should not have that
right....We are meddling in things that
are better not left up to us.
