My husband had his right kidney removed 3
1/2 weeks ago due to a 7 centimeter cancer
tumor. His recovery at hospital was
amazing and he was released with-in 3 days
after surgery. He is now having constant
pain in his lower left back.
Is this normal? Is it because of the 8
shots he received in his lower back prior
to surgery? Is it because his left
kidney has to work harder than it is
accustomed to? Is because areas inside
his body are now shifting and settling?
He is a large man and has had lower back
pains for a long time and usually is
adjusted by his chiropractor, which
obviously is not an option now. I have
been telling him that it is part of his
recovery process, but the truth is I made
that up.

Open Nephrectomy Posted: 09-22-08 17:46pm
I too had a right kidney Nephrectomy 1 1/2
weeks ago and have been having pain on my
lower left back. I had a hospital stay of
only 5 days.
I had no symptoms prior to the
Nephrectomy.
Does anyone has an answer?
Thanks!!

Welcome
I had a pyloplasty, not nephrectomy, but I
too have lower left back pain. It is my
left kidney which does not function
anymore. I wonder if there is something
in that? I have no answers but I just
wanted to let you guys know that you're
not alone. I don't think it is healing
process because I still have the pain and
I had the surgery 9 years ago. Sorry I
have no good news. Let us know how you
are doing. Good luck.
