I read a post about early signs of
pregnancy before a missed period and my
girlfriend had the cramps, but no sickness
or anything.
Anyway i've only had sex twice, once I
didn't ejaculate and once I did, and they
were both protected by a condom... I am
scared cause of this board. Do you think
shes pregnant?

It is highly unlikely she is! Unless the
condom broke or you didn't use it properly
or something! And the cramps might be an
indication of her upcoming period, esp.
If they aren't regular.

Well her period is either today (the 9th)
or tomorrow. She had cramps thsi
afternoon and later this night. What do
you mean when they are regular. Does
that mean pregnancy? Im confused

They are pretty regular, but she has been
worrying about getting it a lot since weve
had intercourse... Could that put her
period off?

Yes stress can put it off. Also, thinking
that you are pregnant..Can make your body
go through all the symptoms. Just tell
her to relax. And if it doesn't come when
it's spose to, then test. But I think
everything is ok..And I don't think she's
preggo

I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this
to you yet, but when a girl losses her
virginity sometimes her period can go
crazy, causing it to be late or come
waaaay early. You are being smart using
condoms! Keep it up, maybe she should get
on birth control as extra protection?

Really? I didn't know that. Yeah I want
her to go on the pill but she doesn't want
the side effects. Her friend has gotten
really health forum cause of it so she
doesn't want to become that.

There are several different contraception
options that she can look into, each
having slightly different *possible* side
effects. There's no gaurantee that she
will experience any of them and there's no
gaurantee that she won't experience all of
them. At this point, it becomes trial
and error.
Ideally and for the prescription, she
should go to the doctor and the doctor
will discuss with her the various forms of
birth control, their side effects, and
other pertinent information. There are
several different forms of the pill.
Some of the newer ones and the one that I
am currently on have lower doses of the
hormones and most people have experienced
a lower incidence of side effects. The
one that I am currently on is
orthotricyclen-lo. Younger women seem to
like the patch, ortho evra, because they
don't have to remember to take the pill
everyday, they only change the patch once
a week. This is not adviseable if she is
overweight but since most young women tend
to be smaller, they enjoy this option.
Another option is the nuva ring which is
inserted once a month, left for three
weeks, and then taken out when it's time
for her cycle. This further takes less
to remember and has been reviewed
favorably by the women who use it. The
shot, depo provera, is another option that
only needs to be remembered 4 times a
year. I know several people who swear by
this method. However, if she's
incredibly stressed out about her period
being late since that is a sign of
pregnancy, then being on the shot could
freak her out more because a lot of people
report skipped periods while on the shot.
Yet another option may be the new pill,
seasonale, which means she will only have
four periods a year. It is an active
pill, taken every day for three months.
This may be new but it has been approved
by the fda and many health care
professionals have agreed that it is safe.
If you want added protection, and she
still cannot find a birth control option
for herself, you could also use spermicide
along with your condoms. They don't
affect the condoms and can continue to
decrease your chances of pregnancy. The
bottom line is that if you don't want to
experience a pregnancy, then using several
or as many methods as possible is the best
course of action. This means her
obtaining a method that is 99% effective
(as most pills, patches, shots, rings,
etc. Are), using condoms regularly and
correctly, and also using spermicide.
Also, it usually takes at least a month
for a woman's body to adjust to a hormone
birth control method. This means that
even if she gets on the pill tomorrow, she
could still get pregnant through
unprotected sex. Ideally, you should
always use protection.
Best of luck and encourage her to see her
doctor for another birth control method.
Also, since she is sexually active now,
she needs to go to her doctor once a year
for a well woman exam. These exams are
nothing to be afraid of or ashamed of and
all women should have one every year.
These exams can help detect cancer earlier
and are vital for the health of women of
all ages.
Peace,
jenn

Well... She got her period but she said
she has a lot more cramps this time... Is
this an indication of something or just a
heavy load?
