Peri-menopause And Low Dose Birth Control Pills Posted: 01-09-05 18:26pm
I have been on depo-provera for 13 years
and loved every minute of it. The shot
not only stopped my periods but the
horrible pms I used to get with that. I
only gained about 15 pounds, but am very
active and controlled the weight gain with
excercise. For the past year, I have
been having peri-menopause symptoms:
headaches, tired, forgetfulness,
depression, at age 42. My doctor and I
thought that going on a low dose birth
control pill (orth tri cyclen lo) would
help. I tried them for a month and
definately felt more of a sense of well
being and happiness. I felt it was worth
it for the quality of life and not have to
be depressed going through menopause for
the next few years. Then we decided to
try seasonale to avoid the period thing.
I have been on those for a week and am
miserable. I am so nauseus, moody and
have terrible headaches. I want to try
the ortho tri cyc lo again. Anyone have
any experience with peri-menopause and
taking this bcp?
