Want to Talk to Post Hip Replacements
Posted: 01-09-05 22:08pm

I received the sultzer hip that was recalled and had the revision surgery and after three years I still have lots of pain. I get cramps in the my hip and have pain in the hip although the hip is now gone. I limp just like I did before surgery and have groin pain and can't sleep on that side of my body because of the pain. I wonder if anyone has similiar problems after their revision and more importantly what kind of activities can you do? I would like to start skiing again, I can handle the pain but fear dislocation. Let me hear from you if you don't mind, I want to know what my limitations are. I met a guy in the hospital in the bed next to my dad who told me that he had two hip replacements in the same side and that it never slowed him down at all and he had broken it once and dislocated it twice and he said he was fine. I was really happy to have spoken to him, then he was released from the hospital and I saw him walking down the hall and he was four inches shorter on the bad hip side. He neglected to tell me how crippled he had become due to all his revisions.

Hi there! It could be scar tissue or arthritis. Not everyone has good luck w/hip and knee surgeries, sometimes the body doen't accept foreign parts, you should get it checked out with your Dr.
The best to you!
Sincerely,
sandy

Take Care

take care of your hip like it was gold. it's worth much more. i have had four hip revisions and each time the leg gets shorter and mobiity worse. I led a normal life with the first hip. aerobics swimming fell walking, but i wore it out too quickly 13 years. Since i've had 8 years of operations to try to get me to walk. face total hip and pelvic removal in the near future. treasure what you have. there's more to life than skiiing. walking to the bathroom and around the house is more important
