Starting the Pill - Question Posted: 01-12-05 00:44am
Hello, I have a question and I was
wondering if anyone could help me...I
started ortho tri cyclen about a week and
a half ago. My period started on that
sunday morning and was very, very light.
I took the first pill around noon and that
afternoon my period stopped completely.
I was just wondering if that means that
the pill would not be effective right
away? I know you're supposed to start on
the first day of your period or the first
sunday after it starts so since I really
didn't have much of a period at all would
the pill be fully effective now? About a
week and a half later? Or should I still
use a back-up method?
Thanks!

As far as I know, the pill will still be
effective, if you are worried, use a
condom as well and you will be fine!!

If this is the first time you are using
the pill, then you should use a backup
method for the first month. Once you
start your second pack, a backup method is
not necessary!

I just started bc too and the same thing
happened. My period stopped 2 days
later. I was scared that I might be
preg. But I guess this is a common
thing. Whewwww I was scared!

No no no
you only need back-up for the first 7 days
of your pills! This is if you do not
start when you are on your period.
