I don't know who on this forum knows me
anymore, but I thought i'd post my labor
story. I'm copying and pasting it
from another forum of people I know really
well, so it's really detailed. I'll
put pics at the end too.
I had juliette avery on january 6th and
she weighed 7lbs 11oz.
Okay here goes....
I went to my doctor on wednesday the 5th
for an appointment. My sister took me,
I was dialated 2 cm and my blood pressure
was higher than ever (preeclampsia), so my
doctor said that he was sick of worrying
about me and the baby and he thought I
should go ahead and be induced. He
said it would either be that day, the next
day, or friday. So he came back in the
room and said that they wanted me at the
hospital at 1:00.
We called my parents and drove back to my
house so I could pack a bag. I got
back here at 12:00 and it takes 30 minutes
to get to the hospital, so I didn't have
much time to do anything and I was
freaking out inside so it was practically
impossible anyway. The first thing I
did when I got home was post on here (the
baby boom continues). Then I packed a
bag... I don't even remember what I
put in it. I called michael and told
him I had to be there at 1o, but that he
didn't have to come up there that early
because it was going to be a long process.
We got to the hospital and I got into my
labor and delivery room. Michael
showed up about 10 minutes after we got
there. After awhile they put in my
i.V. And started the pitocin. My
blood pressure stayed high the whole time
I was in the hospital. My parents and
michael left after awhile to go home and
sleep, but my sister stayed with me.
After a few hours, I was still on the
pitocin and feeling tiny little nothing
contractions. A nurse came in my room
and told me that I was maxed out on
pitocin and that I was still dialated 2
cm, so they were going to take me off of
it. That night they were going to
insert a pill that was supposed to soften
my cervix and if it didn't work well
enough, four hours later they were going
to insert another. Then they would
start me on pitocin again the next
morning.
Then, michael's mother, who I 've never
met, showed up and just started talking to
me like we'd known eachother for years.
She was absolutely wonderful. I was
starving and the cafeteria was closed, and
no one had any money so we called the
place I used to work and made them give me
a free pizza. Then michael came back.
Then cory and cassandra showed up with
a dozen roses in a vase and stayed to hang
out. Then my old boss and my cousin
(she works where I used to) showed up with
baby clothes, diapers, and bottles.
Everyone finally left (it was like a party
in my room) except for michael and my
sister who spent the night. It sucked
trying to sleep because I was hooked up to
minters and everytime I tried to get
comfortable I would move the moniter and a
nurse would have to come in and fix it.
At one point I was sleeping and this
nurse was fixing my moniter and I (half
asleep) was like "what the hell are you
doing?" I totally didn't mean to say it,
but... Oops. They gave me the
first pill for my cervix at midnight and
then came in again at 4:00am to give me
another. I couldn't go to the bathroom
for two hours after they gave me the pill
because it could come out. But, right
after they put it up there, they hooked me
up to an i.V. To pump me full of
fluids!! I ended up waking up at 5:00
am needing to pee, but I couldn't and it
sucked.
At 6:00 I peed and washed off my make up
because I was feeling icky and another
nurse came in to tell me that I still
hadn't dialated anymore and they were
going to break my water. They broke my
water and it sucked. It was really
uncomfortable and then I started having
these mega contractions that were two
minutes apart. They started to hrt so
bad that asked for the epidural. The
epidural guy was in with a c-section
though so they said I had to wait 25
minutes!!! That sucked, that was 12
1/2 contractions. I would lose it
about every third contraction. I'd
breathe through the first two and then cry
through the third.
My sister and michael woke up about now
and left to smoke when my mom called.
She was trying to talk to me while I was
contracting and I was just balling so I
finally just hung up on her! Then the
nurse comes back and tells me the
c-section is dragging ass so she can give
me a painkiller in my i.V. While I was
waiting for my epi. It felt awesome.
It didn't make the contractions go away
but it made them less severe. I even
slept for awhile and said weird caca to my
sister and michael. I was high as a
kite and I was dialated to 5 cm. Then
it wore off.... Epidural guy finally
shows up, and so do my parents. They
walked in the room right as I was getting
it and the nurse had to rush them out.
After the epi, all of my pain instantly
went away. The nurse thought I was
crazy because I could still move my legs.
It was hard and it took me awhile, but
I could still move them. So anyways,
everyone was back in my room (mom, dad,
sister, michael, and my uncle showed up
with a balloon, flowers, and doughnuts).
The nurse checks me again and i'm fully
dialated (maybe 10 minutes after the
epidural).
Everyone left the room except for my mom
and my sister. I pushed until she was
crowning and then we had to wait for the
doctor. He shows up and I push twice
after every contraction. After maybe 6
pushes she was out. She was born at
10:41 and weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. I
pushed for maybe ten minutes and my labor
(from when they broke my water) lasted
about 4 and a half hours.
This is the first picture ever taken of
her. Kinda blurry.
this is her and her daddy (michael).
We're not together, but he's around for
the most part.
and this is her in her amby hammock the
first day we came home from the
hospital.
Well I don't think u know me either, but
congrats anyways! :d and hey, she was
born on my birthday! Yay! Lol well I
hope both mommie and baby are doing well.
Congrats again. Hopefully the pics will
work soon.
