Daily Chronic Headaches

I am a 50 year old woman and have had
daily headaches for 3 1/2 years.
The headache never goes away, but the
intensity alters up and down during the
day. I have been several times to my
doctor, to 2 different neurologists, a
pyschologist, pyschiatrist and counsellor
but they have not been able to help me. I
have tried anti-depressants, epilim,
clonazepam and several other medications
without any success. I have also tried
various alternative treatments including,
hypnotherapy, chiropractor, osteopath,
acupuncture, chinese herbal medicine but
also without success. I am at my wits end
as being in constant pain affects my
quality of life. Is there anybody out
there who has experienced similar
headaches and if so can you offer any
suggestions as to what I can try next.

Where can you buy magnesium? I tried many
stores and even health food stores and can
not find it.

You can find magnesium at kroger and many
other pharmacies. I take it in a
combination form with zinc and calcium.
You need at least 150mg per day.

I have been suffering daily headaches
since 1997. I thought it was because of
a mylogram I had done before my spinal
fusion surgery.
I have been taking fioricet for it for
many years. I am going to try the
magnesium and see if it helps. :)

Hello hugger
i too have suffered from headaches of
varying degree everyday for the past 18
years (im 25 now). Most of the time it
isnt too bad and I have learned to ignore
the pain.. Only when it becomes bad
enough that I cant concentrate on anything
but my headache do I take anything.
I havent tried anything beyond otc pain
relief and i've built a bit of immunity to
some (it takes about 3 or 4 extra strength
pills to dim down, not take away, a bad
headache).
I have been to a neurologist and he told
me it wasnt anything physically wrong, but
chemically and only suggested expensive
pain pills for migraines which I find
useless since my migraines usually are the
result of a bad headache gone real bad and
I cant just take them at the onset of it
like others might. It just goes from bad
to worse, where does it cross the line?
I've been to allergist in case it may be
something im eating im reacting to and it
aparently isnt.
I find that the otc and regular massages
to relieve tmj and jaw clenching and to
relax the muscles in my head/neck/back
help some. My stomach isnt the greatest
after taking meds for so many years, but I
havent found anything else that works.
Just know your not alone and my thoughts
go out to you...I know how you feel.

You are certainly not alone. I have had
daily headaches for as long as I can
remember. I'm 41 now and they started
when I was a teenager. I've had all the
typical test but nothing has ever shown to
be the cause. I was diagnosed with tmj
(out of line jows) and had that corrected
but it didn't stop the headaches. The
only thing I have found that makes a
difference at all is taking 400 mg daily
of vitamin b6. It has been most effective
on my migraines. I normally had at least
two very bad migraines a month in addition
to the daily headaches. Since I started
taking the b6 about 4 years ago I have
only had about 6 real migraines. You have
my sympathy because only a person who
suffers from daily headaches can
understand. I either wake up with one or
it start about 1 to 3 hours after I get
up.

Don't rule out tmj as a cause of constant
headaches. Tmj can cause migrane like
pain. I know I have been there and am
still there after 4.5 years. I take all
the meds mentioned above and a fairly
strong pain med also sleep with a c-pap
machine and a night guard (bite plate). I
am to the point I can manage day to day.
It has however changed my life. Tmj is
not life threatening but is life changing
as there are no cures. I hope the best
for all of you daily sufferers.
