Young Wife Needs Advice, Please Reply-no Medical Insurance! Posted: 01-16-05 19:28pm
Hello everyone, my name is shannon. I am
a 19 (20 in april) year old wife. My
husband and I have been trying to get
pregnant for a year now with,
unfortunately, no luck. When I was 17 I
had an abortion at 15 1/2 weeks. About a
year after the abortion I started to get
excrutiatingly painful cramps. I saw a
gyn and decided that I may have
endometriosis so he did a laporoscopy.
After the surgery, he told me that I did
not have endometriosis, but that I had
sists on my ovaries, high risk hpv and a
large amount of scarring/scar tissue all
over my reproductive organs. He couldn't
tell me why I had so much scarring as he
said he had never seen anything like that
before. He told me that it wasn't because
of the abortion and that I would be just
fine. He prescribed me vicodin, celebrex,
and bextra. Concerned, my husband and I
decided to try having a child. No luck.
I continued to see my gyn and he wasnt
very much help. He had no answers as to
why I am not getting pregnant, and said
that it just takes time and I will
eventually conceive. There were no
special tests or anything! I am unsure of
what this scarring/scar tissue is from and
if it can cause infertility. I don't have
med insurance and there was only one other
gyn in my city and he wouldn't see me. I
still get painful cramps but not as much
now, but still not pregnant. Any
suggestions or advice? Please reply and
let me know asap!

hi there, my name is tiffany and I am 20
years old. Me and my husband got married
in august and also conceived in august, so
currently we are 24 weeks pregnant.
Previously, to getting pregnant, we had
been trying for several months, when I got
put into the hospital, for what they
thought was a tubal pregnancy. When they
soon found out it was a sist growing on my
overies. Wow was that pain. We were
really worried about not being able to get
pregnant afterwards. I think the reason
we had a harder time getting pregnant is
because everytime we made love, all we
would be thinking about was trying to
conceive. When what we should have been
thinking about was the fact that we were
lucky enough to have each other, becasue
it takes some people years to find their
soul mate. So we slowly stopped thinking
about it, and before we knew it we were
pregnant.
I say keep trying but try not to think
about it soo much. Good luck :)

Hi sweetie! :d I cannot think what
would have caused such scarring, unless
your abortion was not done very
well.(unless abuse has taken place, its
not normal) what did they do about the
cysts? Remove them? I woudl be concerned
you are growing new cysts if I had such
cramps. Have you ever had an std?
Shannon,
wow! Your problem sounds a
little familiar. I had almost the same
problems. I have never had an abortion,
but the scar tissue doesn't have to come
from that. A lot of scar tissue may come
from a sexually transmitted disease you
never knew you had. I know what your
thinking! I thought the same thing! "i
don't sleep around!", neither did i, but I
never knew I had it, and it has made me
infertile. My ovaries are twice as big
as they are supposed to be, and I have had
two surgeries to unblock one tube, but it
keeps blocking back up. My husband and I
have done ivf 5 times and we've never been
able to conceive. I found that I don't
produce enough eggs. Even after being
all pumped up on all those hormones, that
are supposed to make you make thousands of
eggs, the most I ever made was 10 and of
those usually 3 or 4 would be viable.
You and your husband both need to be
checked for infertility problems, if it
comes back that you both are fertile, then
you will know that it's a matter of just
time. It may be that you just may need a
little "boost" from clomid. Either way,
you both need to be checked, do it for
your peace of mind, other wise you'll
drive yourself crazy! I wish you all the
good luck in the world!! I truly mean
that sincerely
