Broken Needle In the Channel
Posted: 01-19-05 13:18pm

Hi all,

i am having channel filling for the last 2 weeks as experienced and explained by a few members in this forum. Unfortunately I had pain for almost whole day after injection's effect disappear. That is not a big deal thanks for the painkillers, but this morning my dentist cleaned the remaining nerves in the channels and temporarily filled again. After I got x-ray film and two small white line attracted me and I asked what they are. He told me that my nerve channels are too narrow and when he clean the 4 channels with thin, 23mm needle, two of them broken inside, when he pulled it a bit hard during push-pull type cleaning. I know that I do not have allergy to titanium and in fact I scare to insist to have him remove them, becouse probably he will say for sure it is possible by surgery. I would like to ask whether anyone has such an experience. He told me it happens sometimes and the best is to leave it there.

I am looking forward to hear your opinions.

Regards,

orhan

Your dentist is doing the right thing for you.To try to remove the files may cause more damage than to leave them.As long as you are aware that the files are there, you can monitor yourself for any pain, swelling or other signs of infection. It seems a little weird that the files broke off inside your canal, but it does happen and your dentist informed you, some do not. Many patients find out when they see a new dentist and x-rays are taken.Good luck to you.
