Im New And I Really Need Some Answers!!!
Posted: 01-19-05 19:03pm

Hi everyone. Im 17 years old. I just have a couple of questions that needs to be answered and I have no one to answer me so I decided to come on here.

I have been semi-bulimic on and off.. Like i'll eat but then purge it all out after or maybe like an hour or so later to get all the food out for like a year or so now.

Me and my boyfriend have been having sex for a while now and sometimes we use the "pull out" method or the vaginal conceptive film but ok lets get to the point.

My period is suppose to come last week but its a week late and usually it comes within a couple of days but ive been wondering if bulimia really affects your period?

I dont know what im asking.. Im still confused on what to ask.. But please help me out and just give me some info I need to know.

Thanks.
Bebi.

I don't know if this is what you have of not, but yes eating disorders do affect your period. You might just be late, I don't know, but this is possible. You might have a condition called amenorrhea, which is the stopping of menstration due to the body having too little fat stores becuase of over-exercising and eating disorders. Women need much more fat than men for hormonal reasons, effecting the period. I don't know what your fat percentage is, but if it is too low, your menstration may stop. Eating disorders, not just bulimia, but anorexia cause this. Interestingly enough, when one purges after eating, he or she actually only purges a small percentage of the food eaten (especially if you wait). The rest has already been digested! It does very little in terms of fat loss and is incredibly unhealthy for you and will be a problem if and when you ever have children. But to answer your question, yes your lack of a period may be linked to your eating disorder.

Honey you have got to stop. I did it for 5 years and I have ruined the way I view food, i've ruined my esophogas, I have heartburn constantly, I developed homorrhoids as a result of few and far between bowel movements, and the list goes on. It's been 2 years and i'm still suffering. It's not worth it. Stop while you still can.

Bebii

aside from your eating disorder, the "pull out" method is not a safe way to prevent pregnancy. His "percum" has sperm in it and you could get
pregnant.
