Birth Control Pill
Posted: 10-28-03 08:30am

I've got some questions for anyone who can help. My boyfriend doesnt use a comdom when we're having sex but i'm on the pill. Can I still get pregnant if the pill is our only means of protection? Can I get pregnant during the week of my period?

Hi honey,

yes it is possible to become pregnant on the pill. The birth control pill is only 97.9% - 99.9% effective, which leaves some women open to fall into that few percent that have the pill fail them. As for becoming pregnant while having your period, I have heard it is possible but very unlikely. You are more likely to become pregnant approximately 14 days before your next period is due, and I repeat "approximately", this is when most women ovulate. As long as you take your birth control pill at the same time every day and don't ever forget to take them, you shouldn't have too many problems.

Good luck...

Can I Be Pregnant?
Posted: 09-04-06 23:07pm

Thanks for the responses. Well I should get my period on 9/11 if I am not pregnant and I am still taking birth control pill but something weird happened today. A lil bit of spotting and some brownish discharge? Is that a sign that I could be pregnant? My breasts are a bit tender. Again the first day of my lmp was 8/13, started the pill on 8/22 and had sex on 8/26 and 8/27. You think I can do a hpt tommorow?
