Have been reading some of your posts and
found that you all are rather supportive
here, so here is my story.
On monday I drove to work, had been there
about 10 minutes and the next thing I knew
I was waking up in the ambulance hearing
the paramedic saying I was combative.
Anyone who knows me, knows I would
normally be anything but combative. He
was trying to explain to me that I had had
a seizure and they were taking me to the
hospital. He asked if I had ever had one
before. I remembered my parents telling
me when I was a baby I would get them.
The doctor told them that it was related
to my tonsils. Everytime I got
tonsilitus, I would end up having a
seizure. The doctor told them if it
happened one more time, he would remove my
tonsils. Well, that one more time never
came. In november I started getting sore
throats. The doctor kept giving me
anti-biotics, I had taken 3 rounds when he
finally got frustrated and sent me to an
ear, nose and throat specialist. I went
to see the ent last week and he took one
look at my tonsils and decided my tonsils
definitely needed to come out. We
scheduled surgery for february 10th.
That brings us back current to this week.
When I got to the hospital, they did an
mri, a cat scan, a chest x-ray, drew blood
to do blood tests, a spinal tap and an
eeg. They did the eeg on tuesday
morning, on tuesday afternoon the
neurologist came in and said that my
brainwaves matched those of a person with
epilepsy. this was a major shock
to everyone. We didn't know what to say.
He told me I wasn't allowed to drive for
3-6 months. I am scheduled to go in and
see him on tuesday for a follow up.
Anyone have any suggestions of questions I
should ask him. I have a few of my own
as it is. The surgery for removing my
tonsils has been cancelled for now. The
surgeon said he wanted to wait at least
4-6 months. Which is really frustrating
since my throat is still bothering me.
Not to mention that I have an ear
infection now too.
I also have sleep apnea, hypothyroidism,
insulin resistance, adult growth hormone
deficiency and anemia. I was just
wondering if anyone else had these same
problems, or a combination of any.

So sorry you have so much going on! I bet
it was a shock to hear you have epilepsy.
I would ask the neuro what types of
seizures he thinks you have. What is the
best medication for this and how can your
other health issues either affect this or
be affected by seizures or the
medication!
Epilepsy.Com is a great place for easy to
understand information on seizures. Study
up on it....

I agree. Also the side effects of any
medicine he puts
you on. And what else you should
restrict besides
driving. And then take that into stride.
Think about
the ways you can do these things safely.
