Hello ycmoore, as I said in another reply,
the only diet to go on is the 7 food
groups diet. Eat healthy, eat smaller
meals more frequently during the day. Stay
away from pop/soda, drink water and
diluted juices. 1 ounce of juice to 7
ounces of water (cranberry, grape) Grape
juice is great for flushing toxins out of
your body. Walking fast, not strolling at
least 1 - 2 klms per day (20-30 minutes)
and stretching pilates style for 15 - 30
minutes daily 5 out of 7 days a week. I
lost 30 pounds in 25 days and 3 dress
sizes. I only have another 20 pounds to
go. You have to discipline yourself that
you will like to walk and stretch. Think
like I do, this is the sweetest treat I
ever had, (exercise) and now look at the
results on the scale. YES you can do it.
Email me for support if you would like.
Diets are gimmicks to make somebody else
reap the rewards financially while they
think of the people (idiots like us) who
bought into their 'gimmicks' and laugh all
the way to the bank with our money.
If you think for a minute back in time,
say to the 50's and 60's obesity was rare.
People ate healthier, from the 7 food
groups, they didn't eat out at restaurants
and fast food places daily. They ate at
home with a family cooked meal.
Give it some thought.

THANK YOU FOR THE ASSISTANCE. NOW I WILL
DISCIPLINE MYSELF FROM ALL OF THE FAST
FOODS AND etc. MY TROUBLE IS POPCORN, ICE
CREAM AND CHIPS. I KNOW I CAN DO, SO i'm
GOING TO DO IT. I HAVE TO GET BACK IN
SHAPE FOR MYSELF. SOMETIMES I don't EVEN
HAVE ENERGY TO DO ANYTHING. SINCE I BEEN
LAID OFF FROM WORK ALL I DO IS SLEEP LATE
AND SOMETIMES EAT. I KNOW EATING AND
LAYING DOWN IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU, SO I'M
GOING TO DO THIS. I WANT TO BE A SIZE 10
BY THE END OF THE YEAR. I'M WEARING AN 16
NOW AND I DON 't LIKE IT. I HATE TO LOOK
AT MYSELF IN THE MIRROR. WHEN I DO I GET
SICK. I SEEN IN TODAYS PAPER ABOUT THE
CHINESE GREEN TEA DIET. I'M WILLING TO
TRY ANYTHING. SO DISCIPLINING MYSELF IS
WHAT I'M GOING TO DO.

Is it the dieting itself that gives you
headaches or the working out part? If it
is only the dieting part, then I would
tell you to keep your normal diet and go
extreme with cardiovascular exercise.
With that, drink about a gallon of water
at least per day. Foods high in fiber,
and perhaps maybe a soy protein suppliment
would deter headaches. That's what I'd
do.

Keep in mind that dieting is a tough thing
to do, but with the right determination,
it is very do-able.
We're all here to support you, so you've

I heard that caffiene slows down or even
blocks the possibility of weight loss.
Is this true?

Too much caffeine, yes. Some here and
there, no.
I of myself am against caffeine because of
the addiction it can cause, and it has
absolutely no value in a healthy body.
While small caffeine amounts do not effect
the actual weight loss, it doesn't help it
either as it does other bodily harms such
as decayed teeth, tartar build up, bad
breath, stomach irritation, and in rare
cases--kidney problems.
But to answer your question further, a
caffeinated drink every now and then won't
effect weight loss at all. But, as with
anything, too much certainly can effect
it.

to "headaches" Posted: 10-03-03 01:34am
Hi, just wanted to let you know that
atkins does work, there may be alot of
people who disagree with it for good
reasons (long term) but for initial weight
loss and to get your insulin levels back
on track it is great!! The reason youre
having headaches is because of
"carbohydrate addiction" withdrawls!
Anytime your body is withdrawling from any
substance be it caffeine, alcohol,
nicotine or sugar which is what all carbs
are, you are going to get a headache...My
suggestion, providing that you do not have
any medical conditions that prevent you
from being able to go on it, try it again
and give it several days...Go to the
health food store and buy "ketosis"
strips. These strips, when urinated on,
will show you if you are in ketosis or
not, if you are on the diet for 3 or more
days with no ketosis, maybe you need to
watch the carbs a little closer and
monitor your level of ketosis....When your
body is in ketosis, this is a great
motivator because you know your burning
fat!! If your body never got into
ketosis the first time, its no wonder you
were miserable the first time. Atkins
induction diet says no more than 20 grams
of carbs a day, that is veeerrry minimal,
so if you were cheating on that then your
insulin levels were still soaring and
plummeting causing the cravings and
headaches. On a positive note, when
your body goes into ketosis and is there
for a couple of days, the hunger pangs and
cravings do go away, and most of the time
youre eating because your body needs food,
not because your starving to death!!
Good luck!

Headaches are your body's way of saying it
is not happy, or it is psychological and
it is convincing you to give up.
To lose weight, you have to want to lose
weight...And I am not talking about
wanting to be a differnt size, or wear a
bathing suit want...You have to want to
make a life stye choice or else you will
continue to go on and off diets all your
life without any results. You mentioned
you have tried many
diets...Bingo...Problem right there. The
simple fact that you have tried so many
shows that you were not willing to make a
positive lifestyle change...You were only
looking for short term results. Now is as
good as any to make this happen for
you!!!
First things first....Be prepared to make
a full lifestyle change. Yes, full. If
u do not, you will not be successful. As
well, do not try any fad diet such as
atkins, becuase the moment you eat any
carbohydrate, your body will store it as
fat, and u will be right where you
started. You need to eat 5-6 small, well
balanced (protein, carbs, fats) meals
every day. Your emphasis should be on
protein, as protein feeds your muscles,
and muscles burn fat. As well, since
muscles burn fat, you need to increase
your muscle mass (to increase your body's
capability of burnign calories/fat)...So
start exercising! Lifting weights 3
times a week will be ideal for starters.
To shed the pounds, you will need to do
cardio exercisise...As much as possible.
If you are really dedicated and determined
to lose the weight...4-7 times a week of
30 minutes of cardio should be good.
Cardio as in brisk walk, jog, bike,
rollerblade (or tread mill, elipticle
machine at a gym). Cardio is best done
in the morning before breakfast, but if u
have a busy schedule, just fit it in
somewhere, regardless what time of day.
While at work, or wherever, park the car
at the end of the parkinglot, and walk in,
or take the stairs instead of elevators.
Walk to the store, opposed to drive if it
is close. Do anything you can to burn
calories. Schedule time into your daily
schedule as if u had a meeting or
appointment, and use that time to exercise
somehow. Make it a comittment....A
habit. Once you start, and keep it up
for a couple of weeks, headaches will
probably be gone, and you will feel
great!
But as I mentioned before, your nutrition
will also be key...No more take out for a
while, eat whole grains, veggies, eat
fruit in moderation because fruit is very
high in sugar (which can be stored as
fat). Nuts, seeds are good. But you
need to increase the protein. Eat
grilled or bbqed chicken breasts...No
skin. Eat egg whites, tuna, fish,
turkey. Stay away from bagles, and huge
portions of pasta (a cup is usually all
that should be served). And for the next
while, limit sugary stuff...Do not
eliminate, but limit.
I work in the health and fitness industry,
and I am tired of hearing "i cant lose the
weight"...It is more like "i dont want
to". Everyone is looking for a mericle
pill or diet...No such thing. The weight
did not go on over night, and therefore it
will not come off over night....It takes
time. Diet and exercise are the only
real way of losing weight, and keeping it
off.
Good luck!!!!!!

Diabetes And Low Carb Diet Questions! Posted: 10-10-03 23:43pm
I have started a low carbohydrate diet.
I have lost four pounds for the four days
that I have been doing it.
I have diabetes and have occasional lows,
which I must use carbohydrate to fix.
The amount of carbs I have consumed to
keep my blood sugar under control has kept
me from going into ketosis. What should
I do?
Also, are the ketone strips that I use for
my diabetes the same strips I need to
monitor my progress with this diet?
I have had a lot of intense hunger
pain/shakes in the last four days. Maybe
I cut too many calories.
My blood sugar has been better than ever.
I plan on doing low carb for two weeks
and then I will incorporate small amounts
of healthy carbs back into my diet.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Diets Posted: 10-27-03 23:18pm
I have read everyone post on the pros and
cons of dieting. True enough that if you
eat smaller portion and eliminating
certain foods and exercise it will help.
I have posted before about the atkins
diet, now I have tried it again, and the
scale doesn't say anything different than
before. I have been on this diet going
on two weeks and I should be seeing some
results. I can feel it, but it not the
same if I get on the scale and that scale
say the same thing. My clothes feels
differently, but I want to see on the
scale. I know I don't expect to see fast
results, but I should see the dial on the
scale moving in the other direction
instead of staying in the same place all
the time. I still have headaches like
mention in my previous post, I try to
block them out and they will go away.
Just with atkins you block out so many
fruits and vegetables. I love fruits, if
I could eat fruits everyday, I would be
happy. I'm determine to stick with this
for awhile or as long as it take for me to
get where I want to be and be happy with
it. I'm not an exercising person, but
hopefully I will be able to start back
walking again, maybe that will help me
more along with other exercising.
Thank all of you for your feedback.

Hi,
i'm a new member and i'd like to tell you
how I did it.
I think that everyone should know what the
best for her/his body. I'm someone who
can't go on a diet for months. My weight
at february the first 292 lbs and i'm 5
feet 10 and 53 years old.
So first I decided to make a 1000
calories diet. After 6 weeks I lost about
27 lbs. Too slow, I said to myself. So I
went fasting, waterfasting! Within 10
days I lost 32 pounds more. I had to stop
for some health reason. So I started to
eat to meals daily (morning and lunch).
In the evening I drank about 10 oz of
fresh orange juice and ate an apple. I
really could keep my weight. So, on
monday i'm going to start another 10 to 14
waterfasting. I want to get under 200
pounds.
