Itching Posted: 01-24-05 04:13am
Hi all, I have just been diagnosed this
week with lupus. I have terrible itching
in my hands when they are aching and
tingling. Is this a normal (whats
normal) thing? My dr is new to this
disease also, we live in a small town in
oregon. I have alot of questions so I
guess I will just watch this website.
Looking forward to talking to folks!

The most wonderful thing about lupus (not)
is that no two cases are alike. I also
have severe itching on various parts of my
body, including my hands, feet (difficult
to scratch when you are tickleish there),
chest, face and scalp. Sometimes
benedryl topical cream helps my hands and
feet, also taking a benedryl capsule when
the itching is really bad helps as well.
My itching comes from the sun, stress and
also certain kinds of foods or lotions
affect my skin. Also if I ill with an
infection of some kind usually my skin
becomes involved.
Taking a warm bath in aveeno which has
oatmeal also works well. Other then that
there really is no quick fix for any of
these things. I have learned by trial
and error. Doctors, whether from a small
town or large city, still don't know all
the ins and outs of lupus. A lot of time
they are going on trial and error as well.
