Hi,

i need some advice. I am 26 weeks preg and have a rather large hemmorhoid. It has bled a few times over the past couple weeks but has stopped hurting. I saw the gastro dr yesterday on advice from my obgyn and he said that there was a large clot that broke loose and probably caused the bleeding. Now here is my dilemna, he has recommended that I have a colonosciopy after I deliver. I am only 34 and the thought of doing this scares me to death. Not the actual procedure but why he may want me to do it. I have had dark stools (ob/gyn says from prenatal vitamins) and now I have convinced myself that I must be bleeding and dying from cancer that they can't diagnose for another 4 or 5 months. Has anyone out there had any of these problems?

Thankyou!!!!!!!!

Bleeding Hemroids At 26 Weeks
With my last pregnancy I had a problem with hemroids and I was about 5 or 6 months pregnant and I went to the bathroom. To my surprise I saw the toliet full of blood. I rushed to call my doctor and was told that I had ruptured a hemroid. I never had any problems after my pregnancy.

The situation you described is very common and your doctors suggestion that it was a small blood clot is most likely correct.

The time to worry about illnesses such as cancer is when there is no other logical reason for bleeding, your problem is pregnancy related so don't worry.
