Hi everyone, i am also expericening the same feeling in my right ear and have been for a few months now. Seems mine started with a bad sinus infection and has just continued on. I can mention this to my family Dr. and he just ignores the subject. I also went to a ent and he did a cat scan of my sinuses and showed flood in my sinuses. Sometimes are worse than others. I have a follow up appointment with the DR today for blood pressure i will mention this again. i really hope someone can find some relief for the rest of us i hate this feeling . I also feel like it is going to drive me out of my mind when it is constant . please let me know if someone can find out what to do for this

All summer I had the swooshing in my ear (right ear) and after lots of tests I was diogonsed with high blood pressure (Hypertension). I found that when I take my high blod pressure med's , the swooshing stopped! What a relief!

I have been dealing with the whooshing sound (and I can actually feel it... like a light pressure in my ear) in my left ear which will go away when pressing on the left side of my neck, but like everyone else, it returns. I have also been experiencing vertigo and an all-around weird 'spacy' feeling at times. Sometimes it feels like I am rocking or swaying, sometimes I feel like I can't walk straight. I also have neck pain and my neck 'clicks' when I turn it to the right. My 'whooshing' sound also gets worse when I turn my head to the right. I have been getting migraines now for the last month. I wonder if these problems could be related to my neck?

I have been the the GP and the ENT with no luck. My hearing tests were normal. My hearing was never an issue (besides the annoying whoosh), so getting a hearing test was a waste of time and money! I had a hole in my eardrum 24 years ago and have had ear problems for at least 26 years.

I also have sinus issues, stuffy nose, especially in the morning.

Good luck everyone! Seems like some of us have the exact same symptoms, but no answers. DRs are too quick to dismiss this... at least the ones that I have been to anyway.

I have had this in my left ear for about 8 months. I just went to an ent today. I will be going for a hearing test soon. The ent wasn't willing to tell me much. I'm preety scared of what it might be.

I may have a possible solution. I am a 35 year old woman who suffered from the "whooshing" heart beat syndrome for approx. one year. After visiting my family doctor, ENT and receiving a VERY expensive MRI of my brain, no one could figure out what was causing this. Like many of you, I new something was wrong. I read somewhere on this forum that an exposure to metal could possibly be causing the heart beat noise in my ear. Owner of a heating and cooling business, I thought maybe the exposure to duct work could have been the culprit. One evening, when showering, my eyes just happened to lock on the ingredients of my shampoo. I used Head N Shoulders . One of the main ingredients in that product is "Zinc". I immediately stopped using the product and guess what, NO MORE HEART BEAT. I hope this may be of help to someone suffering from this problem. I can relate.

I started having this swooshing heartbeat sound in my right ear last year after the worst cold I have ever had in my life....one month in bed. It seems to be worse at night, (I think because it is quiet), and speeds up and slows down when I move around. I have experienced vertigo a couple of times but not on a regular basis. I do not have high blood pressure. Has anyone on this site found a way to stop this?

I have read the countless reports on noises in Left ears. Wow, this is ME. I have had this for almost five years now. I first noticed it in the winter months.. I could slow the noise down then by breathing slower. It has stayed with me since that time. I wondered after reading all the other reports on this topic IF it was something I had done? I fell on the ice and hit the back of my head one winter, so thought that could have been the cause. Strangely enough, when I was in Las Vegas, the noise was gone. I live in Maine and the temp is usually cold here. I also noticed that when I do have sinus problems I hear the beating of my heart louder in my left ear. I would appreciate hearing any new updates or reports from anyone. I am currently trying a new product that is called Isotonics which has several products that are used to treat a variety of symptoms.. I am in hopes that this will be a cure for me. As these products are to de-toxify the body and restore the natural balance. I will keep you posted if this is my cure. d.hills

I too hear my heart in my left ear.

but it only started last night.

when i had a pretty severe full blown panic attack in which i self injured. And since that I have had this going for several hours.

It sounds like a bass drum in my ear. Im a singer and have to be exposed to loud music for rehearsals and shows. Could that worsen it?

I also have a bit of food poisoning right now. And have been vomiting all day.

is it related to the panic attack?

will this ear thing pass in my case/could it just be caused by the food poisoning?

I have recently started hearing what sounds like my heartbeat in my left ear upon lying down. I am 18 weeks pregnant, and am quite scared because I was once told this could be a sign of an aneursym (spelling?). It makes me more scared because of the fact my grandmother died of an aneursym in her brain six weeks after childbirth.

It is also quite annoying because it is hard to fall asleep with this sound. I've tried turning over to lie on my right side and massaging muscles around and inside my ear. I've noticed that if I open my jaw or press like I'm feeling for a pulse, the sound goes away, but comes right back after releasing the pressure or closing my jaw.

can't tell you how great it is (sorry) to read that I am not alone in this experience. It IS annoying, the drs. don't seem to take it serious at first - that it REALLY bothers us - and we have no clue what it's source is....so we think or suppose the worse. My 'whooshing in the ear' began after severe blockage from a cold and an airplane flight. 2 months later that cleared but left behind the whooshing friend in the other ear. Looks like there are several avenues I can explore for relief/potential cure. Thanks for sharing all!! I'll update you if I find a answer for my situation.

I used foam ear plugs frequently during Naval career and during 11 year career at oil refinery. Frequently would sleep with ear plugs during day and on occasion during night.

I have monthly recurring episodes where I hear rather than feel repetitive twitching/thumping/spasms with occasional rapid fluttering that seems to be in my inner ears (both simultaneously). The durations are about 1 sec long and 1~2 sec intervals. A crackling/squishy type sound, which I hear, is generated by the twitching/thumping/spasms. It is not consistant with my pulse or heart beat. This episode will last 3~5 days with 24 hours a day constant noises. I also have plugged ears (both) feel (like an altitude change). The pinch/blow does not clear the feeling. I’ve tried over the counter ear wax removers and swimmer ear drops to no avail.

There is no pain except when I plug my ears with fingers for a while then do the pinch/blow. The constant crackling/squishy noise is highly irritating and effects my ability to hear conversation due to drowning out external sounds.

This is about a 10 year problem. I have seen four different Doctors on this and their initial response it that it is allergies. I expressed my opinion that I feel this is not allergy related. I think it is to consistant and frequent (not seasonal). I’ve been prescribed EMTAK (don’t know what it was for), Flonase nasal spray, Meclizine (for dizzy?, I don’t get dizzy) and Nasacort AQ nasal spray to no avail. I’ve also had 3 different hearing tests (one session included Typanometry and Acoustic reflex) and passed with normal hearing loss per age (the last session I was in the middle of a monthly episode and still passed the hearing although she said there was some osculating, plus was unable to get a seal in the left ear).

My thoughts are that the extensive use of ear plugs almost 24 hours a day (not always using new ones) , and sleeping with them in after showering with moisture in the ears had caused this somehow.

Heartbeat In Ear
I am 21 and have the same problem and once I noticed it, I got more and more worried so I went to the doctor and my blood pressure was so high that they could not even measure it so they shipped me to the hospital and and ran tests including a heart evaluation. The outcome was that my blood pressure was so high because of my high stress level during my final examination period and the birth control pills that were prescribed to me. Turns out that I fall within the 10-15% of women that get high blood pressure from birth control pills. Hopes this helps someone else.

I started to have this creepy whooshing sound in my right ear about four months ago. At first it would only happen shortly before and during my period or when I was exposed to things I was allergic to (feathers, smoke, dust). A couple of months ago I went to the emergency room because I thought I was having a stroke it was so loud. That was the day before my period arrived. I am 48 years old and starting to experience menopausal symptoms. Some of my friends around the same age also hear whooshing in their ears. Could this possibly be from an estrogen surge? I am hearing the sound more often now, but I no longer get a panic attack from it since cardiac problems were ruled out.

Symptoms
- I can hear what I used to classify as "wind" noises, like listening to a conch schell. Soon after I noticed it was actually my heart beating and blood rushnig through my head ( v. cool and fascinated me for about 2 seconds ) Now, it is just annoying.

Details
- blood rushing by very fash, whoosh, whoosh whoosh all freaking day.
- right ear
- disappears on it's own for a minute or two then comes back.
- no statistics on time of year, day or month
- sometimes noisy, sometimes quiet other times it sounds like a biker gang has moved into my ear ( cranking noises )
- yes, when I press on the big vein in my ear it stops ( sweet silence )
- get louder at night but that makes sense since no other noise. Also louder when heart is racing ( also makes sense )

Other Health Issues
- yes, I have bad sinus attacks
- yes, I first noticed this after I took some benadryl for a sinus attack. Not sure if the medication caused it but I did not ice it started after I had it so it was linked to the initial sinus attach in any case
- yes, it is early spring and I do have sinus attacks in early spring
- no idea if it will go awy with sinus attach.
- the first time I noticed it was about 8 years ago however it has never been so persistent as now ( is this bad? )
- have only googled, not seen a doctor, this i the first thread


- did I mention it's annoying?!


In big bold letters can someone say how to stop it ( aside form pressing neck )
