Hi I can relate as a parent
of a 15 yr. Old son who had a bilatteral
slip and had both hips pinned when he just
turned 14. I'm angry with the doctors I
had taken him to his pediatric doctor and
then to a ortho spec. 4 times in 7 months
and was told each time there was nothing
wrong with my son except the fact he
craved attention. I had to search the web
and find out 4 myself what could be
causing my healthy active teen to walk
with his leg turned outward and cause him
to have such a limp and what was causing
him such awful knee pain I then returned
to the ortho and demanded my son's hips be
xray'd! That day he was taken to the
children's hospital and he had both hips
pinned. He only suffered knee pain in his
right knee and the stupid doctors never
once checked his hips they did xray's and
mri's of his knee and that was it. I am
currently in a lawsuit aginst all of them
if they would have checked his hips to
begin with he had a greater chance of a
good recovery now he cant even ride a
bicycle and the hell we put him thru for
those 7 months believing he was faking I
feel horrible. Has any one else been
misdiagnosed? I just want to say I feel
for any of you who are suffering with this
I see the pain everyday thru my son's
eyes.
how long ago did this happen?? i hope hes
ok now
the same thing happened to me but not to
that extent...my limp got progressivly
worse for months and months with bad knee
pain and my foot going further and further
out...finally one day after playing
dodgeball in gym and it hurt too bad to
pick my leg up i was dragging my foot i
went to a 24 treatment center (closest
thing to our house) where they xrayed my
knee but just said that i probably
sprained it and told me to use crutches
for a while and it would heal itself...lol
ya right. luckly my mom called my
pediatrician the next day and she
recommeneded an ortho surgeon, we got an
appointment that day, had my first surgery
2 days later. i had to stay on crutches
for a little while longer cause i was
allergic to the stitches they used and
developed an infection at the incision...i
had my other hip pinned about a year and a
half later...bike riding hurts like hell
for me too, it takes days for the pain to
go away so i just avoid it all
together...
im now 16 and i swim and play water polo,
i used to play soccer but the impact
hurt...my pain isnt too bad now...changes
in weather and hard practices are usually
the things that bring it on
