Zoloft Question?
Posted: 01-25-05 11:41am

Has anyone that has ever taken zoloft experience some trouble with their sex lives? I can't figure out if it is the medication, anxiety, or the depression, but I never want to have sex. And no its not my relationship...I wouldn't with anybody, but for my marriage this has to change.

Sex Drive

I think all medication lowers your sex drive, it did with me.But then again being anxious and depressed doesnt really put you in the mood for bedroom antics does it.It may not stay like that though,i found that if I started things (took control) even if I wasnt in the mood and he was,it kind of got me in the mood.Sometimes it can be boring doing the same things aswell,do something different (get kinky if you want!),add a bit of romance.Doing stuff together always helps too, bonding with eachother and just enjoying eachother in a non sexual way.I wouldnt overly worry about it honey! Im sure you havent lost youre mojo forever!.

Zoloft like the other ssris have a potential for lowering sex drive. I suppose it's a matter of choice... If you're getting significant relief (enough that you don't mind losing the sex drive) than you have to pick and choose..

Honestly, I don't want to speak for everyone, but I have my suspicions about the real nature of anti-depression drugs and their long-term effectiveness. It seems to me most people with anxiety have a significant event or series of events that occured in childhood which essentially led to their current fearful perception of reality. The anxieties go and and hand with their most essential thought process; which is why therapy is the best route to fix the problem. Medication is some cases however, could be helpful in the short term to at least calm symptoms enough to embark upon therapy.
