How Does a "healthy" Person End Up With Hbp? Posted: 01-26-05 17:47pm
I'm a black female in her late 30's. I
exercise 4 to 5 times a week (high
intensity aerobics; some weights and
interval training); I eat reasonably well
(low-fat foods, no added salt, etc.); and
I drink alcohol infrequently and in
moderation. So, why do I have high blood
pressure, and what can I do about it other
than take medications?? :?
Thank you for any insights you may have to
offer.

Hi- did you figure anything out? I'm 33,
white, healthy, drink occasionally,
regularly exercise, drink plenty of water,
eat fairly healthy--- and have high blood
pressure.

I was 24 when I was diagnosed. My Dr.
Told me it was because of the birth
control pill I was on and the hormones
that it contained.

I wish I knew! I'm a white female who
was diagnosed in my late 20s. I've
never been close to overweight, a
vegetarian, I exercise, I quit smoking 8
years ago. I used to drink, but I quit
even that over a year ago now. I had it
under good control for a while, but my
latest readings, on medication, are
170/100. :(
have you been screened fully for secondary
causes (kidney problems, tumors, etc.)?
I see your post was in jan, i'd love an
update if you're still around!
