38 Wks And Confused!!!
Posted: 01-27-05 15:38pm

Well as you can tell from the topic I am 38 weeks. But I am so confused about what I am supose to be feeling... What if I go in labor and not know it? Please can you girls that have had babies tell me what I should be feeling before I go to the hospital... Ok contractions are a tightening feeling or is it sharp pains??? I get really sharp pains below my belly on the left side alittle above my *whooo whooo*... Sorry I just didn't know what to call it... If your gonna tell me they feel like cramps during your rag, I am sorry I don't remember getting any cramping during my periods... I am sooo confused... Then some time I think maybe its just supose to be tightening my whole stomach.... Then I think I feel that but then it could have been the baby stretching... Making my belly feel tight... My sister in law didn't even know she was in labor till the docotr told her.... Then my moms friends told me her daughter had such bad pains that she rolled into a ball on the floor and cried... So I guess everthing is differnt with people but I still don't know what I have to feel... I am starting to think that I should just go to the hospital when my water breaks... Won't that be less confusing? Please if any one has advise or knows something I don't please please help me... Thanks....

Well, first off, congrats on your pregnancy! Anyway, about contractions...You'll know, lol. What you are getting right now are most likely braxton hicks (contractions to prepare you for labor) because they are usually in the abdomin area. Real contractions cause pain in the lower back, and at first will be mild, but as they get closer, you'll be able to tell! Good luck!

Well I do get horrible pains in my lower back... But thats only if I am sitting in a upright chair... Usally the pains go away if I put a pillow behind my back... Yesterday I was in the car for 2 hours and wanted to cry... My back hurt so bad... But once I stepped out of the car I was cured... Lol... Thats normal right???

Sounds to me like you may be having back labor. When was the last time you were at your docs? Maybe you should go in for a visit if you have any concern, that way the dr would be able to determine if you are in labor.

Good luck!
