I Need Help Please!! Posted: 10-30-03 01:47am
Hi, my name is jeffianne..I'm 23 and have
been on birth control for about 5
years...Never missed a pill/shot. I have
been off of depo provera for about 6
months. And had pretty much went back to
my normal three to four day menstration.
Till this month, I am about 10 days late.
Is it possilble that I could have all
effects of birth control out of my system
already? I am scared to take a pregnancy
test...I can't even tell my boyfriend(of 5
years)that i'm late...And don't want to
take a test and find out i'm pregnant till
i've at least told him i'm late. I'm a
bit lost...And guess I need my question
aswered before I procede with anything
else. Anybody that can help I would
greatly appriciate it.

Hi jeffianne,
yes, the effects of birth control would
definately be out of your system after 6
months. In fact 1 month would be enough
for some women. I was taking birth
control pills for 13 years, until I
stopped taking them recently to try and
concieve. Well it only took us 3 months
to become pregnant. Everyone is
different, but if you have been having
unprotected sex without birth control for
6 months, then you could well and truly be
pregnant. You really need to get a
pregnancy test, or go to your doctor and
request a blood test.
Good luck,
suzy

My first thought was, "shes been with this
guy for 5 years!" meaning, you love
eachother right?? Are you going to be
happy about being pregnant or is it
totally going to be a let down? I am sure
hes going to feel great about this if you
are. Tell him, and take the test
together. You have been doing everything
else together for the past 5 years, why
not this? If you have been sleeping with
him the whole time, you made out well to
have gone this long without concieving! I
wish you all the luck, and tell him!!!!
Quick!

Hey chica,
i'm pretty sure that you could be
pregnant. Your already 10 days late, so I
say go ahead and tell your boyfriend.
Since you've been together thid long he
should be able to handle it. Good luck
with everthing!

Took the Test Posted: 10-30-03 14:37pm
Thank you guys for your advice and help.
I took the test, bought e.P.T., it only
shows one line(not pregnant) I am still
going to go to the dr to get it comfirmed
though.
Just a quick run down of my
history...I've been with my boyfriend
since I was 18. Which is 5 almost 6
years. He is going to be 28 in november.
I have been on some form of birth
control pretty much the whole time.
Pills for 2 years and depo for about 3.
It was only about 6 month ago that I
stopped going in for my shots. I wasn't
having any real side effects from any
method of b/c I had been taking but,
wanted to let my body have a few "normal"
cycles since I had been on b/c for so
long. Like I said in my first post, I
petty much went back to what was a normal
cycle for myself before I got on b/c.
Untill this month, I haven't started or
had any of the usual symptoms that I get.
For exsample: about 2-3 weeks before I
start menstrating my breasts get tender
and kind of sore. That hasn't
happend....I have been under a lot of
stress, in the last 2 months I found out
that my 19 year old sister was being
abused by her boyfriend of 4 years. I
got laid off of my job, and 4 days ago my
mom told me that my sister is pregnant
with her abusers baby. She has finally
left him but, can't completly leave him
because of the baby...Is it possible that
my late cycle could be due to stress?
Anyways, just kind of rambling on...Guess
i'll stop. Thanks again...

I enjoyed reading your story. I'm sorry
to hear about your sister... But I know
you will be there for her too! When I
started university, my cycle totally
changed, and it was due to the stress. I
was so tired, and my body took a toll. I
was kind of excited for you to be
pregnant.. Lol* when the time is
right...
