Blood Level Checks, Where I Can It Done Cheap? Posted: 01-30-05 05:57am
I'm a us citizen currently live in japan
but will be returning to the usa in a few
months.
I am looking for a place that can do blood
level checks at a reasonable price in the
usa. I'm on dilantin and currently have
been getting the levels checked every
month. The levels used to be pretty
stable but the past couple of years the
levels have been very unstable, thus the
frequent checks.
We have not yet decided where we will be
returning to in america. Good treatment
at reasonable prices for my epilepsy is
one variable that may help us in choosing
where to go.
Thanks for any help.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with
levels. I am not sure where the cheapest
labs are, I guess insurance is the best
thing to cover those.
Have you happened to switch to the generic
phenytoin from the lable dilantin? My son
took the generic and had problems with his
levels all the time. I found out after he
was off that med that the name brand is
much more stable. You can ask the neuro
to write daw(dispense as written) to make
sure it is dilantin. (your label should
indicate if it is generic or not. )
i hope you can find the best place to live
and get the best care!

Hi there. You might check with the
epilepsy foundation and once you find out
where you are going check out the chamber
of commerce. No Dr. Is cheap here, that
I know of.
Sincerely,
sandy

You can contact them now at www.Epilepsyfoundation.Org
to see what they say. There is an
information page there on doctors....
