Would Be Marrital Asset, Please Help? Posted: 01-31-05 15:22pm
Hello,
i'm going thru the beginning of divorce
and have question about things bought
while together.
Would a court decide to not include "his"
baseball collection of cards, figures,
etc. Or would the court see this as
something that should be sold as a asset
and split between us?
They were collected during our marraige.
Thanks for your time, and help.
Ps: live in ny

It would depend on the value of the
collection.Does it have any meaning for
you besides a monetary value??If it means
more to him than you, might be better to
just let that one go.If the collection has
a great deal of monetary value and would
really, truly make a difference in the
quality of your life and/or your
settlement, ask your attorney.I know we can
lose perspective on things when we are
hurt(i was guilty of this myself when my
ex-fiance called off our wedding 3 weeks
before the wedding).Ask yourself if having
the collection or making him sell it will
make a difference in year or two.If you
cannot honestly say yes,let him keep
it.Good luck and look to happier days.
