What Is Happening to Me? the Doc Is As Confused As I Am!
Posted: 02-01-05 13:48pm

Hi am am new to this forum, so I hope I am doing this right. I really hope someone out there can give me some advice. I took an over the counter pregnancy test about 3 weeks ago. 3 tests to be exact and all had the faint positive line. I then scheduled an appt. With my doc. And he did blood test to confirm and had a vaginal ultra sound done. The first blood work came back with my hormone levels at 200, but nothing was found on the ultra sound. I am and have been bleeding the whole 3 weeks, so he continued to take blood test to make sure my levels were increasing. So far they are up to 827. My emotions are crazy, my breast kill and have grown 1 size already. These are all signs of being pregnant right??

Today I went in for another ultra sound and nothing was found. Doc. Said I may have miscarried but I may have not miscarried. So they did another blood test to see where my levels are now. I don't get an answer till tomorrow. All of this questioning and waiting is killing me. This pregnancy wasn't exactly planned and I am very scared. It is my first and I was hoping some one could relate or offer some advice. Why am I bleeding? Why can't they find anything on the ultra sound???

I don't wanna be a downer but that happened to me before and I was miscarrying. I bled for about 2 weeks and then the rest came out in a blob and they had to do a d&c. Other than maybe go see another doc I don't really know what to tell you. Good luck though!

Hey. Sorry, I don't have any def answers for you. A lot of strange things can and do happen during preg. How far along should you be? My girlfriend just had probs with hcg levels. They were dropping, but after a few days they started to rise again and everything is fine now. I just wanted to tell you it is possible that you are still preg and will have a perfectly healthy baby. Keep us posted. Take care.

Hey hun,

i have been through this. Ok to try and explain the blood test are suppose to double and triple in numbers every 2 days. That is why the doc will do like 2 or 3 repeated blood quanitive test in 1 weeks time. The reason they might not be seeing anything you still might be to early. They normally cant see anything until like 6 to 7 wks, when they are doing the u/s are they saying anything about a sac at all, but nothing in there, because at this point that will be normal. Now if you keep bleeding that is a sign of mis. But not a def sign. It is really hard to know for sure until you reach those wks to know if you have had a as what they call it a spontanios mis. Good luck hun and im here if you need to talk

hi thank you for your response at least I know i'm not alone. According to my last period 12-13-04 I should be what 5-6 weeks along?? I have heard that this isn't the most accurate way of detecting conception. On both ultra sounds they haven't found a sack or anything else. I just hope tomorrow brings good news. I haven't had any cramping or clumps either. Did you have both? Did they do an ultra sound on you. I think about getting a second opinion but I don't think my insurance will cover it. Also I was on birth control pill when I concived could this cause problems?

The tings to watch out for are ectopic pregnancies or hydatidiform moles. But either of those should be ruled out if your hormone levels are stabilizing by tomorrow's test.
