Ok, I am about 16 years old and I have had
nose bleeds since grammar school. They
weren't horrible they would come on
suddenyl take about 20 min to stop and
that would be it. Well for some reason
unknown to me this past month I have had 4
nose bleeds and they are horrendous they
gush out like a river and go down the back
of my throat so I spit blood and feel sick
its horrible and with my anxiety disorder
I get so scared I start crying and shaking
it takes an hour to stop!! I was told dry
weather dry membranes blah blah well it
doesnt help so I got my nose cauterized in
my left nostril....It was like this long
stick with brownish top I think he said
sodium nitrate or something and it burned
it wasnt horrible just kind of stung for
awhile well this morning this gray thing
came out of my nose and I paniced ....
Bad that I took out the cauterization and
that its going to gush bad so I have been
running my humidifier on high all day and
checking my humidity level constantly to
make sure its in the comfort level. So
can anyone lend some helpful advice? Im
just so scared they are just horrible and
I hate it ... When I say I shake I mean I
literally cant control it its like I go
into convulsions I just shake all over
like im hypothermic and then I can't stop
crying. I know I sound like a baby here
 but thats what anxiety mixed with
blood everywhere does to me ... Someone
help :(

Hi there, I work at a clinic for persons
with bleeding disorders. I would
strongly encourage you to be checked over
by a hematologist to determine if that may
be the cause. There are several
treatment options available. The one
easy over the counter one that can slow
down the episodes is simply using nasal
saline nose spray twice a day 2 sprays
each nostril followed by a light coating
in the nares (lower part) of a triple
antibiotic ointment. If you pass clots
during your nose bleeds, try blowing your
nose at the onset and removing any old
clots then apply direct pressure to the
lower part of your nose for 5-10 minutes.
Don't release pressure to check it, just
maintain it. You may need to see an ent
doc again. There is a newer product out
on the market that can be purchased over
the counter called nose bleed qr. There
are several other options, however I
truely believe a hematology consult,
preferably at a hemophilia and bleeding
disorders center is the way to go. You
might want to try the national hemophilia
website as they will direct you to the
center closest to you. They are a great
network who will guide you in the right
direction and they are in every state.
Good luck!
