Taking the Pill Back to Back And Late Period
Posted: 02-01-05 18:13pm

Hi,

im just after a bit of advice. My girlfriend has been taken the pill back to back without the 7 day pause inbetween. After the second pack she has not had a period yet. It has been 2 weeks, is it normal for there to be a gap this long after taking the pill back to back? Everyone she has spoken too has told her not to worry and that it is normal. One of her friends did it and didnt have a period for 3 weeks. I have searched the internet for information but so far have found nothing that relates to this question directly. The whole thing has got me more then a little bit worried.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I expect taking the pill back to back is the cause for lack of period.

Yup, if your girlfriend skips the week of inactive pills and starts a new pack right away then she doesnt get her period... Thats how it works. Totally normal, dont worry about it. She should still get her period every 3 months though, so make sure she doesn't continuously skip that week of inactive pills so she can get her period.

Hi,

cheers for the replies.

Yeah, she has taken the first 21 pills, then skipped the 7 day placebos and went straight to the next 21 'proper pills' this second course has now finished and she hasnt had a period yet
