Bile Duct Cancer Posted: 02-04-05 23:08pm
I believe that I have a success story.
In december, my husband had his gall
bladder removed because he had jaundice
and the doctor determined he had gall
stones. Two weeks later he went back to
the doctor and had shown little signs of
improvement. As it turned out, he had
bile duct cancer. This past monday(
1-31-05), he had surgery to remove the
tumor - the surgery is called a whipple
procedure. The area where the tumor was
located was removed along with parts of
his liver, stomach, pancreas and small
intestine. His gall bladder would also
have been partially taken if he had still
had it. Following the surgery, his
doctor told me that he saw no signs of the
cancer having spread and that my husband
should make a full recovery. I just left
the hospital (2-4-05) and my husband was
up and about and trying to convince me to
sneak in food. My advice to you is pray,
pray, pray!!!

We have been praying! My mom had surgery
back in december and they removed two
tumors ... One on the tip of her liver
and the other one on her lymph nodes.
She starts aggressive chemo/radiation feb.
21. For eight weeks straight. Thanks
for responding.

The main symptons of bile duct cancer are
jaundice, abdominal pain, and insomnia and
itching.

my dad had his lymph noids removed and
underwent extensive radiation and chemo
about 4 years ago from throat cancer.
After having terrible pains in his
stomache and it bloating to the degree of
not being able to move. The doctors said
he had a bile duct blockage. He has had
several surgeries to correct the block.
Now, 5 months later, we were told that it
is not an blockage it is cancer. How long
can a person survive after having a bile
duct removed? Will it always cause
jaundice? Does it always affect the
pancreas and liver?
