9 Year Old Son - Many Doctors And Symptoms Posted: 02-03-05 21:23pm
My son just had a sleep study. Adnoids
and tonsils were removed. He had constant
sinus infections. The last cat last
year showed moderate change in his
sphenoid sinuses. So they stopped the
antibiotics. He still has black eyes.
But is sleeping better. He has a
deviated septum and says he cant blow his
nose because it hurts. Ent feels he did
his part.
Neurologist. Wants to put him on inderal
for rage attacks followed by migraines.
He is already on strattera for adhd and
visual learning disability. I said no to
the inderol unless they do an eeg. I
also think he should have another cat.
I don't know which Dr. To be fighting the
neorologist, pediatritican, ent. I have
heard there is a rage epilepsy with
headaches but I cant find anything on that
topic.
Just because his front (visual) sinuses
are cleared. I think the sphenoid
sinuses which are the ones closest to his
brain is an issue. Why am I being
ignored on this topic by all the Dr.
Involved. The pressure could be causing
the outbursts and the headaches.
All want is for him to be able to blow his
nose without pain. Not get the migraines
and to quit replacing doors with holes in
them. And learn to read.
On another note the teachers say he is so
intelligent it doesn't matter that he cant
read because he absorbs everything.
He was a preemie twin weighing 3lbs.
Any help or suggestions. I know I am his
best advicate. But I am running in
circles. :?:

I am so sorry your son has been through so
much!! I am a sinus sufferer, been
through 2 sinus surgeries and still have
frequent sinus infections. Your son
sounds like he might have allergies with
those dark eyes and infections. Have they
ever tested him? Is he on any allergy
meds? It might help to figure things
out.
The rage seizures are called limbic
seizures. They start in the limbic region
of the temporal lobe. Other seizure types
can also cause change of mood, too. Good
for you insisting on an eeg. Certainly
worth checking if they can see anything
specific going on. I have 2 kids with
seizures and have read quite a bit. All
three of us also have migraines.
I sure hope you can find help for him.
Hang in there!!
