Clogged Feeling In Ear After Flight

Here are my symptoms:
slight pressure in right ear.
No pain.
Reduced hearing; everything sounds muffled
unless close or inside me. I can hear
myself breathe, chew, swallow, I can hear
my pulse.
I think I have fluid in an inner part of
my ear, not in the outer ear. That is dry
as usual. Clicking sounds occur when I
move my head fast from one orientation to
the opposite orientation.
No wax build up is visible. I clean my
ears regularly.
My ear clogged on the descent of the first
flight.
It cleared up at the top of the second
flight but re-clogged when we descended
again.
I have tried blowing while holding my
nose... And inhaling as well... Have
taken heat treatments... All to no avail.
Any advice is much appreciated.

Wow I have the same problem you do. My
ears get clooged all the time, npt just on
a flight. On the flight, they clog up
really bad and I can't hear for awhile. I
am really paranoid about this and always
worry. I might have a wax build- up. I
tink i'm goin to use peoxide for it.
Sometimes on the filght, chewing gum helps
unclog the ears. Have u tried it?

I always get really strong ear pain in
flight decents and my ears stay blocked
for several days afterwards and everything
sounds really strange.I have nose issues
that dont allow me to breathe through my
nose which im sure contributes to the ear
blocking. The best thing you can do is sip
drinks through a straw-the harder the
better.I know its sort of impractical
because you cant be contantly drinking the
whole decent but its worked alot better
for me than chewing gum has in the
past....

Clogged Ear - Amplified Internal Sounds

Hi.. Just read your problem. Did it
ever go away?
I have the exact same symptoms.. My left
ear is clogged as far as external noises,
but all internal noises are amplified
(swallowing, chewing, breathing, burping,
and sometimes blood pumping). This
happened to me after being hit pretty hard
by a wave directly in my left ear.. Saw a
doctor, and they advised I had perforated
my ear drum.. Gave me antibiotics to
prevent infection, and advised to keep
ears dry. This happened 10 days ago.. I
no longer have pain, but still have the
hearing loss, and the annoying amplified
internal sounds.
How long was yours like that after the
flight? Has it come back?

I have the same problem. After I got off
my flight my ear was blocked. I went to
the Dr. And was prescribed bactrim and
afirin. It has been two weeks exactly
since my ear had become blocked and now I
finished my antibiotic and am worried this
will never go away. If anywone knows
from experience, how long do you think it
will take for the fluid to drain?

your ear may have poped in flight try
pulgging you nose and holding your breath,
if the pressure is relived then that
should solve the problem, if not then i
would see a doc

same problem--flew with a bad cold 3
months ago--ears haven't popped since.
getting headaches every day. seen 3
doctors, and an ent. had a cat scan of my
sinuses, showing a deviated septum and
enlarge turbinate that he wants to operate
on. I kind of see that the surgery won't
hurt/could help, but it seems to me pretty
cause and effect that flying with a bad
cold did this. I've lived with the
deviated septum my whole life and not know
it or had a problem with it....
anyone cured?

Ear clogged after flight

Ive had that happen on flights on decents.
It usually cleared that day. But if
youarent having success getting yours
clear, consult your doctor, especially if
it is affecting the quality of your
hearing. Never try to clear by holding
your nose, you could damage your ear drum.
Let a doctor have a look and advise you
from there.
