Hi I went for my first dating ultrasound on 27/1/05 and they saw the gestational sac, yolk sac and fetus but no heart beat the outcome was that I was 6w 2d. My blood showed that I was ok. Today 4/2/05 I went for my second u/s and still no heart beat and no feotal growth since last week. I do not know the day I concieved so I cannot work this out. Afterwards I saw my gp and she suggested I get a d&c. What do I do? Is this correct, that I would have miscarried or is there still hope.

Hello hun,
i have been through this before. I got pregnant and there was a sac and a tolk sac everything was there, but no baby at all.. It is very hard and I understand what your going through. They kept doing my u/s every week for 3 weeks and still nothing. My doc. Told me that this happens and what happened is the baby didnt develope.. You need to get the d&c though because the sac and stuff will continue to graow as if there was a baby in there. You could always ask for a couple more weeks just to feel safe.. And see if anything develops, but more than likely there wont be. Im sorry for your loss hun I def. Know how you feel. But on a brighter note just for your info. I had the d&c in nove. And I was preggo again in jan. And I have a healthy boy even though he was a premie.. Good luck to you and dont loose hope. If you need to talk im here

I don't know nothing about miscarriages but sounds to me that you did. But like tazzy d said ask to have a couple weeks to see if anything develops.

I'm so sorry to hear about your news. I had this happen to myself several times, and it's heartbreaking. I found out I was preg. With twins. When I had the ultrasound one of the sacs looked fine, but the other was tear drop shapped, and they told me I may lose that one, if not it would have problems. I went back a week later and the tear dropped one was gone, but I never passed it, and the other had no heart beat. I had to have a d&c. Several months later I was preg. Again, I had ultrasounds weekly just to check on the fetus. One day again, no heart beat, I had to have another d&c. The doctor did test on me to see if there was a reason I was having miscarriages, but all the test come out neg. Years later I had to have a hysterectomy due to endometriosis, and they Dr. Said that was probably the cause of it. I know it is hard, but remember god lets everything happen for a reason, even if we don't understand why.... Good luck and my prayers are with you. Let us know how you are
