Posted: 02-04-05 08:09am

Hi I hope to get some advise. I don't no any thing about having a baby. Well I no some but not much. Like the plug. I no what it looks but how do you no when it comes out is there something you feel or do you just see it. My do date is march 22nd. I plan to have him the natural way. Do you think this is crazy. I no it is going to hurt. But I don't want the epidural. So any advise would help thanks

Hi and welcome
im tanya 28 with 5 children and one on the way. Im due may 23. Btw. It is all up to you and your body wether you can handle pain or not. If you are a sucker for pain then you might want to try something to help.. About the mucus plug. It is called bloody show/snot. Sorry that is how it was explained to me. Some people dont even know that they have lost there plug at all. So it is hard to tell you. Some people can loose them early and they grow back so. Good luck im sure everything will be okay

Oops, forgot about your questions. Yeah, my mucus plug looked like thick bloody snot. Ewww, this is so nasty at times. Lol well, I had both of my girls w/o an epidural and it wasn't too bad. If you have a high pain tolerance you should be fine. I'm also more of a mental and not a physical pain person. I've heard horror stories about epis not working or things going wrong (having a needle stuck in your spinal cord just does not sound right to me) so I decided I wouldn't get one. B/c if I had it in my head that I was going to get it and it didn't work or whatever then I would really be in pain. Kind of like when you have to go to the bathroom and it gets worse the closer you get to a bathroom. Lol

Sign up for lamaze... I plan to do natural too... Well see if I can handle it but I dont really want the epidural...

I'm due march 8th, and no signs of mucus plug yet... So just be patient..

I highly advise that you sign up for a lamaze/child birthing class if your going natural... They will teach you relaxation techniques and all... Sign up now! Ask your doc about classes!

I started mine as of feb 1st so its not too late I promise :)

look up natural relaxation techniques and ways of producing easy labor online...

Such as my friend found an old wives tale saying a like tsp of vinager helps and she had a 3 hour process from cramps to water breakage to getting to hospital to getting a room to delivering to having the baby back in her arms... In 3 hours. :)

and start walking love :)

I took the a pre-preg class, but I didn't use any of the breathing techniques. Not saying you shouldn't take one though. I know if I didn't then I would have been wondering why through my whole labor. Lol

Thanks I planed on talking to my doctor monday about the classes. They may and may not work. But I dont see what it would hurt in taking them anyways. They say the breathing they teach realy helps. So thanks for the advise. Every one has been a realy big help. Danyell

Lying on your left side and lots of 'rest', I don't know if they put you on bed rest. Just take it easy. Not too much salt, lots of water. Call your doc and ask to speak with a nurse and tell her what's going on. She'll give you advice or have you come back in.

Try taking an epsom salt warm bath then going to sleep... Switch positions around and always keep your feet elevated... Even alittle... But focus on staying on your left side...

Or you can try going for a walk or cleaning or something to get the blood flood going

Congrats on the baby. Me and my hubsand is trying to have a baby.

Try not to eat alot of salt. My sister started swelling when she was pregnant with her first baby. And she was put on bed rest well that is all the doctor told her to do. But a couple of days later she found out that she had that toxicam pregnancy. She lost that baby because the doctor went out of town on vacation the doctor of her appointment. And it was like a day or two after her doctor's appointment that she went into labor. I am not saying that is what you have because alot of women swell in they get pregnant. But the doctor that deliver my sister's baby then told her that the other doctor should have done a test of some kind and told her to stay away from salt. But I am sure that you don't have that because you are closer to your due date then my sister was. But now my sister has three healthy kids and all three of them pregnancy went great for her. No problems of any kind. Expect being grumpy. But I guess that is not a problem. And a congrats on the baby.

Hey Got a Question
Posted: 02-09-05 08:46am

When you have your baby how long do you bleed afterwards. Do you have your period right after or how does that work. He is 10 days old and I am still bleeding. I just want to make sure that is normal.

I had my last baby in march. What's your due date? My daughter will be one march 3!! It is scary, but it's so exciting. Once you realize you're really in labor and evan will be here soon, you'll fill up with excitement and your adrenaline starts pumping. The good emotions and the adrenaline (lol) helped me to cope with the pain.
