I stopped nursing my daughter 10 months ago. I just noticed a month ago that I am still producing what appears to be breast milk. Is this normal.

I'm not sure. I would think it's rare, but prob happens. I got preg in sept 01, then nursed her until 7/03, got preg again in 6/03, and I just stopped nursing my second baby. It's only been 2 weeks and I still have milk. I was also wondering when it would be completely gone since i've been producing milk now for about 3 years. I'm going to look online.

I found this on another forum. A woman asked how long it would take for her to stop lactating. This is the response of another woman.

As for still having milk after weaning, that's perfectly normal. Although my experience isn't really relevant (because I was pregnant when my older child weaned), I have friends who have continued to be able to express some milk for many months after weaning, and one friend who says she would sometimes feel a letdown sensation years after her daughter weaned. But again, if you're not actually nursing a child with some frequency, the fact that your glands are still producing a little milk doesn't prevent you from getting pregnant again. Anon
