Help Please?
Posted: 11-01-03 07:19am

For the past 4 days I have been spotting non-stop and it seems to be getting heavier each day. Now it isless than a light period but definately enough to wear a panty liner. I am 8 weeks pregnant and the blood is a brownish color and when I went to the bathroom thismorning and wiped, there was a small blood clot. Should I be concerned? I spent a lot of time on my feet the last couple days, more than usual, and I am getting married today, should I take it easy at the reception and just sit for most of it? Or will everything be ok? Thank you.

Hi kylerz, I don't want to scare you but I am going to be honest. It does sound as though you are experiencing a threatened miscarriage. Basically a threatened miscarriage means it can go either way at this stage. The fact that the blood contains clots and it is getting heavier, is not a good sign. A miscarriage takes place over a period of a few days to a week. Other symptoms of a miscarriage include abdominal pain, much like period pain along with severe lower back pain aswell. If you are not experiencing any pain at all, then you may be one of the lucky ones who will go on to have a normal pregnancy. Some women do have their period during pregnancy, and it never causes any problems, but it is extremely important that you get yourself to the hospital or doctor so that they are able to organise an ultrasound to verify that bubby is ok. Congratulations on your marriage, I hope you had a wonderful day.

Good luck,

suzy
