Hoping that someone has some suggestions
here.
I have had great difficulty finding
information for adult adhd.
My husband has adhd, and for the most part
he has learned to cope with it. He has
never been on medication, doesn't want to
be, and shrugs me off whenever I suggest a
doctors visit.
For the most part, I have also adjusted to
this condition, and deal with it so long
as it's not a hinderance to daily life.
The problem right now is sleep patterns.
We run on a very hectic schedule, with a
17 month old son, i've just finished
college, he is in school still and works
part time night shift.
He is usually home by 3 am, and doesn't
start classes until 1:30 pm, however he
can't seem to unwind and go to sleep.
Many mornings he isn't in bed until 6 or 7
am, and then oversleeps. I have been
angry at him about this up until recently,
when it dawned on me that this could be an
adhd issue, and he is constantly
complaining that he "just can't sleep".
At this point, as I said, life is hectic
so it's nearly impossible to set a
constant routine. I have been focusing on
his wake-up times, and only just thought
that maybe the issue isn't when he wakes
up but that that's stemming from his
inability to fall asleep to begin with.
Has anyone else dealt with this sort of
problem? It isn't the same as having a
child with adhd, I am not his mother, and
he doesn't function the same. Any help
would be appreciated.
