Are You Addicted to Zopiclone? Posted: 02-14-05 14:50pm
I was on zopiclone (7.5mg) for about 2 1/2
years taking 2 pills a night, I figured I
could just go off and on them like pepsi!
But I couldn't do it, I needed more and
more, I went to all the clinics and
doctors to get them. Then finally I went
to my real family doctor and he put me on
a 2 week weaning process which got me down
to 1 per night, and then after that I was
on none and no withdrawal symptoms. The
way that he did this was he prescribed
serquel(100mg) per night with the
zopiclone, plus 2 amitriptaline(20mg) and
all of a sudden within two weeks I was
totally off the zopiclone as the sercquel
had taken its place, as well as the
amitriptyline. Now what you may be
thinking is i’m just exchanging one drug
for another! But that’s not true,
because you see sercquel and amitriptyline
are non addictive drugs, they contain
nothing that will trick your brain into
wanting more and more, and you still sleep
at night eventually whenever you want you
can stop taking the sercquel and
amitriptyline whenever you want, you could
take these 2 drugs for a year and have no
addiction. That’s just my 2 cents, and
it worked for me, may not work for you but
at least you can say you tried.
Best regards,

Thanks for your post.
I am currently taking 2 x 7.5 every night
and have been for about a year.
Trouble is my doctor wont prescribe me
sleeping pills so I have to get them
through a friend who works in a nursing
home.
Even worse is this week she's not been at
work and i've had none for 2 nights talk
about cold turkey!!
I've had a total sleep time of 2 hours in
3 nights!!
Is this psycological or addiction??
I had real bad palputations in the night
aswell and my heart was racing!!
But then again I am a bit stressed out and
anxious at moment which doesn't help!!
Also I know this sounds crazy but I love
the "taste" of them when I take them, a
lot of people say it's a horrible metallic
taste, but I find it good.

I'm Totally Addicted to Zopiclone. Posted: 11-18-05 05:44am
I am living in bulgaria for work right now
and zopiclone is available otc.
I have worked my tolerance level up to
about 50 7.5 pills a day. Sometimes more.
I know one day i'm going to take just a
little more than my body can handle. I
am trying to taper down daily. But, I am
weak and they are so easy to get.
Anybody have any suggestions about how I
can take care of this problem myself?

Help For People Dependant On Zopiclone. Posted: 05-09-06 07:21am
Hi , I have been taking zopiclone ( up to
four 7.5 mil ) tablets now for four years
and have started tapering down. My life
has been almost ruined by this so called
harmless drug and its time to do something
about it.
After two weeks, I have gotten down to 1
tablet per night with the help of a very
good herbal mix that my local health shop
recommended, called zenbev. I would urge
anyone trying to come off zopiclone to try
this formula, plus st johns wort tablets,
to ease the horrible withdrawal symptoms
that its possible to get after using
zopiclone. I am feeling a little
anxious, but am positive that things are
much much easier than on previous
occasions when I have tried to come off
the stuff. Anyone interested in knowing
more, or needing some encouragement,
please feel free in emailing me, I am here
to help.
Be strong,
regards,
craig.

I've been on 7.5 a day for almost 3 years,
And am increasingly noticing problems with
my short-term memory.
I'm only 20, and I want to find out if
this drug can or has done permanent damage
to my memory.

Can someone please help me come off
Zopicline at the moment I am talking about
3 x 7.5mg per day. But compaired to last
year whenI was on 6 x 7.5mg I'm doing ok.
But my doctor is wanting to cut me down
even more and I'm really scared. I cant
concentrate, eat or do anything really
"normal" like I can when I have my
tablets. If I went cold turky how long
does it last xx

Hi all. A newbie here. Ive been on
zopiclone for 4 1/2 weeks now. I was put
on them because my anxiety/stess was
stopping me from sleeping. I started with
2 x 7.5 but have managed to gradually cut
down to 1 1/2, then 1 then 1/2. Ive tried
a couple of nights without taking any and
had no sleep at all.
Im also on Citalopram anti depressants
which ive only been on for 2 weeks. I
think im still having trouble sleeping due
to the C but im worried about becoming
addicted to the Zopiclone as ive read i
should do them for no longer than 4 weeks.
3.75mg seems to get me about 6 hours a
night, albiet broken sleep into blocks of
about 2 hours at a time but if i dont do
any i get none at all.
How long did it take others to become
addicted and is anybodies stories similar
to mine?

Apart from that it sounds like you're
taking too much zopiclone and you should
get your doc to help you cut back, if you
have depression and insomnia issues
combined then I would suggest you see if
your doc will prescribe amitriptyline,
rather than Zoloft. I'm on it and it helps
me a lot with my sleep - I have a sleep
disorder, so although I am prescribed
zopiclone for very occasional use when I
am desperate for a good night's sleep, I
can't take sleeping meds on any sort of
regular basis as will I have the sleep
disorder for life. The amitriptyline seems
to do the trick w/ both the depression and
the sleep probs most of the time.

I never thought that Zopiclone was an addictive drug! Posted: 05-19-08 08:38am
I can't believe that my doctor would put
me on an addictive drug after coming off
of 2mg. of clonazepam! It took me almost 2
years to get off Clonazepam. She knows how
hard that one almost killed me from the
adverse effects of withdrawal for that
one. I have had to go up to 1 1/2 - 7.5mg.
of the zopiclone for over a year now so I
could get some sleep but now here I read
now that this is also an addictive pill!
Why do our doctors do this to us. I was
very suicidal coming off the Clonazepam so
now I am really worried about coming off
the Zopiclone. I have tried taking
melatonin for sleeping but it didn't help
at all. What can I do? I need to get off
of them the easiest way. I don't want to
commit suicide but I don't know if I can
live through another bad experience off
coming off another bad drug. I need to
really know the best way of coming off of
this drug. Please help me!!!!!!!!!!

Zopiclone Posted: 07-01-08 10:54am
Ive been on Zopiclone for 4 weeks now as I
had not slept for 5 days due to a terrible
argument with an ex-partner. I started on
7.5 mg and have cut down to 3.75 each
night. I try to sleep without it but I
can't then I panic and take it and fall
asleep for about 7 hours. but I have such
anxiety and don't know if it's due to the
sleeping pill or just anxiety overall. can
anyone help me with advice how to come off
it?

zopiclone Posted: 07-13-08 23:57pm
I was addicted to zopiclone for about 4
years, mixing it heavily with alcohol. i
live in eastern europe, so the caca used
to sell without a prescription everywhere
like aspirin. i started taking it only
because i liked the way it felt - like i
was so confindent and it made me feel i
could do anything. but then i just started
losing control, acting crazy and
inadequate and just freaking people out,
especially when i started mixing with
alcohol. i don't like alcohol by itself, i
without the zopiclone i don't even enjoy
it, but with the pills i would drink so
much, and would completely black out
afterwards. i've had some pretty scary
things happen to me with those blackouts,
and i'm kinda glad i don't remember in
detail what was happening. anyway, i
almost completely ruined my life with that
crap. the first year it wasn't that bad, i
could control myself and could remember
what happened the next day. But after
about a year and a half, i just totally
lost myself, i just wasn't MYSELF.the
stuff brings out the worst in you.after a
year i was so tolerant i was taking up to
30 pills a day! i'm clean now for about a
year, cause the stuff doesn't sell without
a prescription anymore, and i don't know
how to get one, i haven't tried. i didn't
feel any withdrawl symptoms at all, which
i thought was strange, just a bit
depressed because i can't feel that
confident about myself without the pills.
but at least i don't act like an fool in
front of people anymore. don't go back to
that stuff, i don't know how damaging the
stuff is to your body (it obviously can't
be good), but it messes with your head,
and people will forever see you as a
psycho freak while you're on it.
