What Makes Your Anxiety Worse?
Posted: 02-15-05 01:47am

If any, which of the following activities increases your anxiety level?

A) smoking marijuana - #1 for me personally
b) drinking alcohol
c) smoking cigarettes
d) eating chocolate
e) drinking caffeine

in a healthguide I was reading, everything but a is supposed to increase the level of your anxiety. But I have found that smoking pot gives me anxiety attacks. Does anyone experience the same thing? If not, what does increase the level of your anxiety?

Everything that you have mentioned makes me feel pannicky! But also these:

1. Getting too hot can make me feel anxious.
2. Perscription drugs for anxiety attacks (i swear they do more harm than good!)
3. Alchohol (sometimes)
4. Energy drinks
5. Energy/sprorts snack bars

what I have found helps are the following

1. Camomile tea - makes me feel relaxed without having to take perscribed drugs!
2. Quiet life - herbal pills that you take if you feel stressed and they help to relax you.
3. Cooling down and being on my own can also help me to relax.

For me, it is drinking mountain dew. That stuff is loaded with caffeine, and if I am already experiencing anxiety, it makes it ten times worse.

Beside the factors that was mentioned by nataliedee, some diseases might cause anxiety and stressed.

Do you mean short term or long term.

Do you feel that marijana increases your anxiety when you are high, or over all?

I think that for some people cannabis can make them jumpy, and when the heart rate starts to accelerate it is all up to our minds whether we react anxiously or calmly.

However, i've found that cannabis can help me to settle down, escape from some negative obsessive thoughts.

And I get pulsing headaches, as a result of lack of caffine and stress gives me migraines and headaches.

Abvoe anything that helps with my anxiety...Taking the dog for a hike in the mountains or to the rivers is no doubt the best temporary "cure"

Almost every night I have to have my back scratched or i'm up scratching myself from head to toe... I also find that if I try to ignore an itch I twitch heh, so bad, that my whole body jumps and I end up waking my fiance.

The heat really gets to me, I have psorisis, and with that I get incredibly itchy and irritable when it's hot, my body won't let me sleep and my heart starts racing. I usually have to live it out until i've pretty much ripped off three layers of skin, my back is scratched and the fan is in my face.. Then.. I can sleep.

As for marijuana, I used to be a chronic, but I found myself very quiet around people when I smoked and I just ended up smoking by myself. After a while I noticed that if I didn't smoke my anxiety would increase x10 and it just wasn't worth it, so I stopped. Occassionally, at the rarest of rare times i'll have a toke off of a friends joint, but I have to be really drunk to handle it.

Seems to me that if anxiety is not dealt with properly it just keeps getting worse.

I seem to suffer more with stress: for example when my mother died in march 2005 and also if I run upstairs rather than walking.
