Don't Apply a Cream Or Add Moisture to the Area.

David:

it sound like some sort of jock itch. I am surprise your doctor supplied a cream. Moisture adds to the problem.
I would think your doctor would diagnose jock itch.

I would recommend cleaning the area twice daily (morning/night) and apply a treatment for jock itch or corn starch when the area is irritated.

You can get cornstarch in the supermarket (white powder). The key is you want to apply something that will dry the area to prevent the rash.

Hope this helps,

tom

I was reading about jock itch and I found this http://dermatology.About.Com/cs/fungalinfe ctions/a/jockitch.Htm

it says jock is does not involve the scrotum which is where my itch is !

Jock itch can occur on the scrotum (dry, flaky, itchy skin).

I would recommend you make a doctor appointment.

Keep the area below dry and clean.

Use antifungle powders or sprays. Years ago when I was 18, my doctor recommended corn starch to reduce the rash and the itching.

Don't scratch.

See a doctor if it persists. They can may be prescribe an antifungle that is more effective than you can get over the counter.

Thats all I can recommend. Sorry.

Hey david,
i've had the exact same problem for a couple years now. I've seen a doctor and they didn't say anything about jock itch. I read some stuff a while ago about this problem, and it didn't match up with jock itch. It only takes place on the scrotum and it flakes real bad and it mostly acts up right before bed. I'm trying hard to find out what it is. Please let me know if you have any luck, i'll do the same if I find a solution or any information. Thanx.

I had a similar problem with testical itching at bed time, flakeing etc.I thought it was jock itch I used tinactin for about a year with no cure I tried everything I could try over counter as well as 2 perscriptions ov lamasil by a doctor. No results this may not work for you,but I tried everything vinegar that burned like crazy no help.I have 2 dogs I noticed that one had some spots of hair falling out, flakeing very similar to my condition I took him to the vet 160 $ antibiotic cob liver oil pills and dog wash what a waste noresults for me or the dog.Sounds funnny, but this really sucked,so I remembered years ago my uncle putting motor oil on a dog to kill mainge. Please remember I am not a doctor and I will not say this is safe, but I tried some unused 10 30 penzoil, after about 3 or 4 applications and every 2 or 3 days as needed my problem cleared up.I got some hydro cortizone cream and followed up with that about once a week for about a month.I kept thinking the problem would come back after I dealt with it for about a year, but I believe I finally cured it.My condition did spread to my right arm on the opposite side of my elbo, and in my right ear,i did the same treatment and all is now cleared up.It may have beed dermititis misdiagnosed as jock itch who knows, but I have no more itching or flaking any more.

My Hubby Has Similar Prob

His itch / rash is on his mainly on his testicals and also cracking and sore to his forskin.

Have anyof you hears of candida balanitis, this literaly means inflamation of the penis glans. This is a yeast infection that affects the actual penis & testicals, rather than jock itch that doesnt.

Male yeast infection

this ain't gonna be a pretty subject, because the male yeast infection affects a very unique part of the male anatomy.
It's also called candida balanitis, which literally means inflammation of the glans penis, and the glans is the vascular body at the apex of the penis.
Diagnosis needs to be made by a very experienced clinician, because there are other sexually transmitted diseases to differentiate it from, and it can mimic other conditions.
This is more likely to happen if you have phimosis, which means the prepuce (foreskin) can't be drawn back to uncover the glans. If you've had a circumcision, it's much less likely you'll get a yeast infection.
The treatment doesn't involve drugs- you have to keep your glans clean and dry, rather than applying medication. Intercourse should be avoided in acute attacks because moisture and trauma make the male yeast infection worse.
Some men find that the morning after sex, their glans is inflamed. This may occur because of moisture under the foreskin overnight rather transmission of bacteria, fungus, or viruses. Wash and dry the glans after intercourse and oral sex.
Always retract your foreskin during urination.
If you can't get rid of the yeast infection by keeping it clean and dry, you'll need a circumcision. No biggie- in the bible, the jews did that before a big battle and they won big time.

Itchy Testicals
Posted: 08-07-07 17:22pm

I've been reading the past blogs, and have to admit I get the same itching, on a night around my testicles, and just below the base of my penis. I've thought about ringing the sex line for advice on the issue, but have always felt stupid in doing so.

I've found that itching soothes whilst you itch, but doesn't solve it. Also, itching can cause you to scrape the skin, and therefore leave your testicles sore, which can sting through the day if rubbing occurs on your legs, etc.
To get round making your testicals sore, I've found using a sports sock to scratch with can soothe without causing sores. Sounds weird but it helps.

Also, again sounding very weird, and slight perverce, I found that when it itches, and I scratch, I get an irrection. If I then masturbate the itching seems to stop. I don't know if it's because my minds off the itching or what, but you should try it next time the itching won't stop, it really works for me!

Hope some of this can help Wink
