Drink 8-10 Glasses of Water a Day? Posted: 02-17-05 13:59pm
Hi,
i'm pretty new here. Hi how is it going?
:)
any way, I get pretty dry when I work out
and have been told that I just need to
drink more water in my normal everyday
routine. So i'm trying to do the 8-10
glasses a day.
Unfortunately, it seems that I have to
urinate very frequently when I do drink
that much water. By frequently I mean
about every 45 - 50 minutes.
It isn't a problem when I am in the office
but outside of the office it can be fun
trying to find a washroom sometimes!
Is this normal?

Perfectly normal when you're starting out.
The increase in water intake should
happen gradually.
Two things to keep in mind:
1 - 8-10 glasses of water per day includes
water that is present in other
foods/drinks.. (i.E. Juices, pasta,
etc.).
2 - 8.10 glasses of water is for the
average person. If you're larger or
smaller you should adjust your water
intake accordingly.
Personally, I drink no less than 1 gallon.
(around 4l) of water per day. But i'm
also larger than your average guy.
So as I said, increase your liquid intake
gradually and allow your body to begin
absorbing this water. Also note that
dieuretics will make you urinate more
frequently. (i.E. Caffeine products such
as coffee, or alcohol.)

Ah thanks.
I hadn't thought about the size difference
between people. It makes sense though.
Considering that I am pretty much skinny
as a toothpick(just too hard to eat enough
to put on the real pounds!), I may need
less water. I'll take it gradual.
I knew about the dieuretics. Just one cup
of coffee in the morning for me.
Good to know I won't be going pee every 45
minutes forever just because I am getting
enough water! :)
