Q: Bleeding Won't Stop After Miscarriage

13 jan 2005 was my first pre-natal visit & I was so excited. During the examination, my doctor informed me that I had a miscarriage (missed miscarriage). I was 9 weeks into the pregnancy. I was immediately booked for the d&c. My concern is that since then my bleeding has not stopped and I have not had my period. I bled for 2 days, there after i've been spotting a brownish colour daily. Last week I felt a menstruation coming, only to find that it was a large clot that looked like a raw liver piece. But still no period only this brownish discharge. What is wrong with me & should I be worried?

Sounds pretty normal to me. Some bleeding and discharge is to be expected after having a miscarriage and d&c. As for the clot, that is normal too, the doctor may have missed some products of conception. You should be feeling better by monday. Do you have a follow-up appointment scheduled with your doctor? You probably won't get your period as you normally would because you were pregnant. Your body will need to adjust back to being not pregnant. Hope that helps a little...I wouldn't be too worried about it. Sometimes worrying just makes you feel worse, just relax this weekend. Take care!

I had minor bleeding for about a montha fter my last miscarriage and d&c, then I only got a real period 2 months later so don't worry too much. If youkeep bleeding after another 2 weeks then go back to the doc. Good luck and sorry for your loss.

i have had this happen to me before, and the doc. Can give you a green pill to take that will help stop the bleeding. Then he can put you on a b/c pill to regulate your periods again. As long as you arent passing blood clots the size of a softball that is normal. Good luck hun..
