Hello,
i have been on the patch for over a year
now. I use it correctly and never miss a
change patch day. But I swear I am still
ovulating!!
I am the mom to 4 kids and so I am aware
of when my body is ovulating, for when I
was trying to conceive I was very intune
with my cycles.
Since being on the patch, 2 weeks in I
will get crampy, start having the
'eggwhite' discharge and am moody.
I have been using condoms along with the
patch to be safe!!
Do these symptoms happend to everyone on
the patch, or do you think I am ovulating
while using the patch?

Hi! I've been on the patch since june
and I get these symptoms as well. The
week before my period I get pms, bloating,
etc as if I wasn't on bc. Before I was
on the patch I was on regular bc pills for
7 years and always experienced the same
thing. So this is normal to me.

Ive read the patch does not always prevent
you from ovulating. Its supposed to have
3 effects: 1)stop ovulation, 2)thicken the
cervical mucus son sperm dont go in,
3)change the uterine lining so a
fertilized egg cant implant itself in it
and grow into a baby. If you are still
ovulating (id check my temperature for a
cycle if I were you) you might still be
benefitting fom the other two effects of
the patch... However i'm totally paranoid
and i'd do the temperature check thing,
use back up for the whole month and go to
my doctor and show him or her my results
for the month.

Are you a heavier woman? I don't mean
severely obese, but just 160 pounds or
more? They did studies and found out that
your body fat has to do alot with how the
patch will work on you. I was on it for 8
months and had 10 day periods and I only
weighed 130 pounds. My periods were
horrible like when I was not on the patch.
Plus they'd come whenever...So I just
figured the patch was not working on me.
You could always test your theory by
getting an ovulation stick and when you
think you're ovulating, test yourself :)

i just wanted to know if the patch really
helps... This would be my first time
every using any type of birth control and
I wanna know if it really works... I
would take the pill but I can't swallow
pills... Then im terrified of shots so I
thought the patch might work but I wanna
know if it really does work.....
