I'm 16 years old and have been on birth control for the past 3 months or so. I'm worried about blood clotting in my leg. This morning I had pain in my left calf and thigh(all in left leg).. It started to die down around 2 and i'm not feeling any pain currently. But I noticed about a half hour ago that i've got two small bruises on both sides of my calf... Well, they're blue(not dark) and one of them hurts.
I have severe anxiety so I may be panicing over nothing but what do you guys think? I don't see any swelling and a few days ago I built a snow fort and pulled muscles in my legs, arms and shoulders from shovelling heavy snow. Sorry if this all seems stupid to you, thanks for reading and please give me your opinions.

Do you have a history of dvt (deep vein thrombosis)? Or does it run in your family? Your doctor should have asked you this prior to starting you on bc. If you're worried about it then you should go to the doctor to get it checked out b/c it is serious.

It's not ususally a common thing in young women such as yourself. The precaution is more for women in their thirties.

For peace of mind, a visit to the doctor wouldn't hurt.

I agree. It is most likely just bruising and maybe pulled muscles, but if you are that worried then you may as well go and see the doc. Although, the clotting is not a common side effect it can happen to any woman of any age who is on the pill. It is more common in older women, but that doesn't mean you are ruled out.
Also, do you smoke? If you do, quit, and if you don't then don't ever start!
